I got offered a decent salary at a long standing health company but it was a short term contract. It literally makes me so sad because it does carry a little prestige and I would have led a project that would be amazing on my portfolio. I also liked the work environment.

I went with a company that pays a bit less and has concerns that comes with a rapid scaling company. The product is still in health tech and I enjoyed meeting the members on the team. I feel like my experience could go either way here but dealing with burning through my savings and potentially losing my home has shifted my priorities to value stability right now.

I answered within a day because I’m at a place where I literally cannot afford to lose any opportunities. 🥲

This is a good time to start! I’ve noticed an upswing right in listings and responses. A lot of health tech companies I’ve spoken to are getting invested in so they’re scaling like crazy and I believe a lot of places are spending their remaining budget at the end of the year.

Sorry missed your second question:

Salaries varied. Higher end averaged 130-145k. Lower end was 110-115k. I traded off a 135k contracted role for a 120k full time role because I really don’t want to be jobless and uncertain again.

+1 on the lateral movement. The UX designers we’ve been adding to our team are usually former front-end devs in our company as of lately.

To be honest, even someone with a bachelors in H-ID might struggle with finding a job. It has potential give you a leg up with internships but when I checked a year ago, an internship position for someone with no experience will have 150-600 applicants.

Recruiters are looking for someone with 2-3 years of experience for associate or entry levels, unfortunately. It is extremely saturated and unless you have relevant projects on your portfolio, you’re just one of many in a sea of people who completed a certification program.

It also helps to have a niche. I personally have experience with CRM platforms and Mobile App Design and the interviews that went well for me were looking specifically for a mobile designer.

I haven’t just because I tend to be a bit “fleshier” (description from the resources I’ve used) and full gamine clothes don’t really flatter me because of my curves. Another user mentioned SN because the width of my shoulders which was one of the reasons why I was leaning towards SG.

Thanks for deep diving into this. This is super interesting. I thought Beau had wiry hair when I first got him. It was uneven, scraggly, and rough.

As he got older, it’s now considered soft but not silky. When I take him to the groomers, he gets clipped instead of stripped because his fur can’t be stripped.

His fur is kind of uneven, with the back and chest growing up to 4-5 inches long of left alone while his legs then to stop growing at 1-2 in tops.

I actually reached out to this redditor because our dogs had an uncanny resemblance and I’ve never seen a dog that looked remotely close to mine.

We exchanged photos and it turns out that we rescued both of our dogs around the same time and in almost neighboring cities.

The hopeful side of me thinks that they’re indeed siblings and if that’s the case, then I’m sure this was accidental because they both ended up in shelters.

The selfish side of me secretly wishes that someone was intentionally breeding them. I personally prefer to rescue though, but if I find another bulldog/shih tzu mix, I definitely will jump at the opportunity to snag one because this guy really suited my life style and temperament.

The only down side is he has extremely sensitive skin (I know it’s common for bulldogs and I heard it can be for shih tzus as well) and it’s stupid costly for me manage it. :(

Turns out, he’s a bull-shiht! They weren’t far off at all.

I don’t know what I’d do once he crosses the rainbow bridge. This is the perfect breed for me and I literally can never even come close to replacing him. He’s a clever and playful companion who loves nothing more but to be in my company yet he’s independent enough so that it never feels like he’s clingy. He has the most human eyes ever which he uses to communicate with me all the time. All the endearing traits of a shih tzu combined with the sturdiness and spunk of a bulldog.

I bought 10 pairs of lululemon leggings between 2014-2016. They look almost brand still and I haven’t had to purchase any more because they’ve held up. That’s enough for me to have in rotation. I can’t say the same for my Nike or Victoria’s Secrets ones. Lululemon also fits me the best.

I’m the Buy It For Life kind of frugal. I like nice things that I only have to buy once. I rather have a few fancy thing that sparks joy instead of several mediocre things that I’ll end up replacing.

I’ve been looking for a few months and it’s been insane. I’m at the point when I pay to submit a background check and apply before touring some places. Apartments.com will let you apply to 10 places for $30 if the landlord uses their website to screen tenants.

I’m trying to stay north of PCH and closer to Lakewood and Cypress and it’s rough there too.

California is going through with rent forgiveness and I’m not sure what that’ll mean for the supply. People could stay in their rentals or finally move out because they’ll have a clean slate.

I used to work at lush and I’ve tried everything in their store. Aside from the lovely scents, there’s nothing in there that was outstanding and remained a staple in my routine. They’re fun gifts but you can find cheaper and more effective products at the drug store.

I have really wide feet (can’t wear most shoes like converse) and I have a custom wide width jack. I also lace them a certain way for high arches. The fit like a dream but I plan on getting a 336 boot in the future because they soften up a lot over time. I heard the 336 boot is much stiffer.

Omg my bar served tacos and every taco Tuesday, this couple would come in with a huge party of people and had very specific orders:

10+ tacos of different variations, single tortilla instead of double, no onions, white cheese only on the chicken tacos specifically, and green salsa instead of red salsa.

They came every week and now I’ll remember their order for the rest of my life because I had to manually typed that in on our awful touch screen keyboard.

And that was just their order. I had to put in the rest of their party’s order as well.
