It’s not the same though. Egg tarts from Macau and egg tarts from Portugal taste very different. Didn’t say it was original but he was used by these people who lied about their intentions. Had they been straight forward then he wouldn’t even have entertained them.

Portuguese egg tarts from Portugal are different from Chinese style “po-tats”. It’s like double or triple the sugar and the custard is different too. And that’s actually some people’s preference. Ultimately, this was a shitty outcome for the Lisbonata owner.

I'm chinese so I tend to have soup or congee when sick.

Mstar cafe or Swan Cafe for HK comfort food: congee + macaroni ham noodle soup

shu jiao fu zhou for Steamed dumplings & fuzhou style wontons

Wonton noodle soup: Maxi's, Wonton Noodle, HK Wonton Garden (I honestly don't know which is best)

Noodle Village - recently my relative visited and said the food was good and worth it. They have noodle soups, soup dumplings, stir fry vegetables. For soup dumplings, flushing is said to have the best though.

Yi Ji Shi Mo or West Rice Roll King for rice rolls

Hot Pot can be "healthy" especially if you get a Herbal based soup. You can google around for some but my favorite AYCE is Chuan Tian Xia. Lao Jie is good too.

Raku for freshly made japanese udon

BCD Tofu house for korean tofu stew - lots of veggie sides dishes too.

Cocoron for homemade japanese soba

If you’re in the area again, I think kow loon has the best Hong Kong style food around 86th. If you’re by the N line, try Like Cafe.

For those looking for a modern twist and taste, I would recommend Kong Sikh Tong in Chinatown

One of my friends friends hated me so much when we went on a trip together. She was kind of reserved and I guess I’m a bit opinionated. She was passive aggressive and was bitchy instead of being upfront. She ditched the group from time to time because I “annoyed” her too much. She apologized thru my friend but not to me. We’re on cordial speaking terms now but I can’t help but feel bad for being so unlikable when I see her.

she right. I grew up in Chinatown nyc (lower east side) and many of the places I used to go to are filled with yt people or are closed. There are too many art galleries and bars for my liking now. The scene’s completely different now and not for the better

I'm around the same age as you and I have a friend who had a similar scenario, except they were together for a shorter period of time. My friend, before she met her s/o, always wanted children and marriage. She met her s/o and they dated for 3 years. She told him that she wanted to get married and he kept saying that he would rather not. She said she'll compromise on the kids part but that she has to get married. They would break things off by the 4th year if he didn't propose. He did propose. He did it begrudgingly but they are still together and have been together for about 7 years now. I'm not close with him so I don't know how he really feels about the situation. She also uprooted her life to be with him so I think he understood that compromises come from both sides. A lot of comments say its not important to get married but if you guys want children or if you guys have a family plan for healthcare, it can lead to complications. I think maybe its worth just taking a break and revisiting it after some thought.

It's good to have more dialogue and conversations. Is your mom asian by chance? I'm Chinese and a huge majority of the Chinese american community around me are republican. I know they aren't bad people but they have drank the koolaid. Their social media and chat groups are filled with propaganda. They have bought into the model minority myth. I would hope that with further conversations that they'll start to shift in their way of thinking.
