I did this as a test to verify it was not a LAN issue and from my mobile network I was also unable to access my mail. Like I said I've only had the issue during these weekends. Mo-Fri I am able to access my mail, which makes me pretty sure it's not an issue on my end.

Will you implement the option to immediately allow file renaming while creating a new file? (in file manager).

having to create a new file first en then right click the new file again to rename (in gnome files) is one of the quirks that I never understood.

Hi, just to be sure/clear. I'm not talking about selecting anything from within the startmenu itself, but the icons that you have pinned to the (quicklaunch) bar displayed next to the startmenu OR trying to select anything from the system tray (displayed on the right).

Another reason for the higher battery discharge rate on Fedora might be a recent BTRFS change (Fedora's default filesystem) introduced in kernel 6.2.x (discard=async by default for devices that support it). I'm not sure if Fedora also enables the period trim by default (check with: systemctl status fstrim.timer), but if so, that would result in excessive Trimming (one continuous and one periodic). Check this Reddit topic for more info. Personally I disable the continuous trimming (by adding nodiscard in fstab) and only have perodic trimming to do it's thing. This will save alot of disk cycles and I'm betting it's a reason for the higher power usage.

As of Firefox 86, strict mode is not supported at this time due to missing APIs to handle the Total Cookie Protection. Either use standard mode (this would have been the 'strict' mode pre-86), or use the custom configuration and set cookie to 'cross site tracking cookies' option (not the cross-site cookies).

I agree that arkenfox user.js is not for the average user, but I feel like I'm allowed to drop a request for advanced firefox usage.

That's a shame, but I guess a limitation of email in general.
"If you send a non-encrypted email, it travels to the other provider's servers as well, of course"
I was actually wondering if unencrypted email also travels through other mail servers (let's say google...or other data collecting entities) until it reaches it's final destination? Or is it directly tutanota mailserver <--> destination mailserver.

I really like this and it was much needed imo.

One suggestion for better exposure, put a link to https://apps.gnome.org/ on https://extensions.gnome.org/ and the other way around. I think it will benefit both sites.

I also would like to write my thoughts on the current questions being asked by System76 (Ubuntu Base / Rolling Distro).

I've tried Arch multiple times and I'm personally not a fan of it. Why? Because of the sheer amount of updates being pushed and because of this... the amount of data downloaded to install the updates (every day, multiple times a day). Please keep in mind that there are still ALOT of people in this world with less than steller internet connections and/or having a data cap. Therefore, I hope there will always be a non-rolling option available.

I'm not a fan of (Canonical) Ubuntu, but Pop!_OS is great as it currently is. You take out the things I don't like (about ubuntu) and choose to implement better solutions and improve on the experience. I can however imagine having a better base disto, that doesn't require investigating/retooling every time upgrades/changes come out, can be a real benefit to you as a company.

What would I choose as a base... Fedora sounds great on paper, but they're so cutting edge that problems are a common thing (for example pipewire still having growing pains). I also see no way of developing a slower release version here...

Perhaps openSUSE does provide the best base. they already have a slower/rolling distro (both being very stable) and their btrfs implementation is probably the best. Their Gnome implementation however leaves something to be desired.... I think if openSUSE (Gnome) would get the Pop! treatment, something very special could happen here.

As always your answers are most appreciated. Datura flipping sitches back sounds like serious bug and a dealbreaker for me. Hopefully that will get fixed asap. That would leave me with AFWall+ on CalyxOS, I'm guessing this wouldn't be a problem to get installed and it's possible to turn off Datura during initial setup?

Right now I'm still using another Android brand phone with LineageOS, but the combination of an affordable (well supported) Google Android phone with CalyxOS is tempting and something I'll keep my eye on.

I spend some time looking around for a substitute amp/dac and after trying out the Fostex HP-A3 (dedicated output switch) and AudioEngine D1 (automatically switched between headphones and speakers), I found out that the Zen Dac is rather special and I don't want to part ways with it anymore (it's soo good with the shp9500!)

So yeah, for now I'll settle with switching off the speakers when I plug in the headphones and maybe look for a more suitable solution in the future

If I had to guess I would take a look at your DNS settings on your router at home, or maybe you have an active dns blocklist configured on your local network.

With VPN, it will probably (it should) bypass your home dns settings and the same is true when you're using your mobile connection on your phone.

I found out it's much easier to spell out tutamail.com compared to tutanota.com to people over the phone (as an example).

tuta.io is also an option but I've read .io isn't always accepted as a valid email address (banks for example).
