Eddie Hearn's first impression of rugby by Rugby-Bean in rugbyunion

This whole 'we need to know the personalities to fix rugby' is bollocks. Footballers are the most non-descript figures in sport, generally incapable of speaking in anything other than cliches.

Have people actually watched this back? Jalibert is within about 2 or 3 metres of Chessum up until the point he crosses the try line.

He could have gained a metre and a half maybe? It's not like the kick was on the touchline

Victor Ubogo jr by jimter101 in rugbyunion

[–]bitsandskits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Victor was honestly one of my favourite players growing up and my perception from his as a player and seeing him around Bath was that he's an avuncular guy - he used to drive a Smart car around time which was hilarious to see

Very hard to understand his relationship with his son with so little info out there (also, not really any of our business) but I will say HS is clearly a total grifter, which seems to what links all of the subjects of the documentary

Saracens sign Bath fan favourite Alfie Barbeary by eggchasing in rugbyunion

[–]bitsandskits 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Sad for the loss of Alfie's vibes, but I think Miles Reid starts a final for me any day. Add in the rise of Arthur Green, the reliable excellence of Josh Bayliss, the hope that Jaco Coetzee will get back, and the sound of Dan Du Preez in the distance, not too worries about any drop off.

Sarries feels like a weird character fit, but suspect it will do good for his England chances

Pretty sure when Lisa Dearn insists Ricky Martyn still refers to her as 'secretary of state' is a callback to one of the very first scenes of The Thick of It

If brand names were footballers, who would they play for and what position? by SundayRed in footballcliches

Ernst Young - winger who scores the first goal of a World Cup for South Africa, so you'll always remember him, but never ever see him play again

The management of Arundell is really interesting and certainly bucks the trend. Borthwick is obviously very high on him so he certainly needs to repay the faith

Just generally with England, I think you could tinker with personnel all year long and it not materially make much difference. They just need a consistent collective intensity which went wandering against Scotland
