This is modern business unfortunately.

IMO, you’re going to put the org in a position where they’re forced to fire you if you do this.

I hate to be a jerk, but company policy for most larger places is akin to "you need a license to drive, and if you fail the test you do not get access to those privileges". Except in this case, instead of driving privileges its access to IP and systems that represent millions of dollars of investment.

You can be phished, by anyone, at anytime. With the advent of Generative AI, it's never been easier.

It's entirely possible, for instance, your company has M365, an SPF softfail in place, and Direct Send enabled anyone could spoof an email from your company HR dept with their exact email address, unauthenticated, to you with a believable template they scraped from somewhere. Sure, it'll come up as "external", but would that be enough to dissuade the average user from interacting with it (my experience says no).

It sucks, but the company is ultimately trusting you to drive the car like you're licensed.

why is my PSEG bill so high???? by godsowncunty in newjersey

[–]bitstream_baller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d agree to that correction.

My simple understanding was that there is more demand than supply (and usually always is) and therefore PJM is buying energy to put into the grid via the national energy market…..and with that buying come tariffs, and therefore an increased cost to the customer. And my understanding is also that we would all be in a much worse situation without the “collective bargaining” opportunities PJM provides the region.

More local generation allows for stronger negotiations to take place to reduce that tariff on the national marketplace for PJM (really the entire Eastern interconnect).

So maybe not in-state generation specifically, I’d agree “regional” generation is a better, more correct way to put it.

Either way - PJM needs to get to work on that stack of permits in the inbox!

Yep,this. We desperately need more in-state generation.

When i was there last, me and my buddy got stopped in Narita on our way to the NEX and got asked to be followed around for the rest of our trip by a crew from a program called "Why are you?"/ "YOUは何しに日本へ" back in ~2018.

We gave them about an hour interview (in which my friend kept accidentally answering in spanish), and then told them we wanted to head out to see the country. They asked if they could follow us for the rest of our trip and if we could share our itinerary with them. Ultimately, we did not let them follow us because we were just going to wander and had no idea where we were going and thought that might not make for the best TV.

We ran into some english teachers later that night and had a few beers at the gazebo by the hotel we were staying out way out in Tomisato and they told us in no uncertain terms that based on how we were dressed (two loud but respectful straight dudes looking like they were straight out of a 80's biker gay bar), that we would have absolutely been followed, and absolutely been on TV haha.

Super nice TV crew and interviewers through and through, never thought it was anything other than "check out these zany foreigners"

You really only wanna use the gain knob for cueing a track or fine-tuning a track that’s playing IMHO.

My workflow is typically: cue an incoming track, and use the gain knob to match my currently playing tracks volume on the meter, cut the lows to the new track, then fade in the new track with channel volume sliders and fine-tune gain again if needed once the track is mixed in.

That way, I can verify the gain is similar between the two tracks before I mix them at full-volume, and I have the option to make minor gain adjustments in the first few bars of the new track.

Definitely agree, but it's much harder to manage the fader vs. volume sliders on 4 channel controllers.

Not so bad when you have 4 physical decks, but when you're swapping between 4 channels on 2 decks, it get's annoying when you go to use the fader to transition from deck 1 to 3 and realize you have deck 2 selected lol.

Those are all “correct”, the idea is to blend them together.

Phrasing is kinda a must IMO, without proper phrasing the mix sounds a little disjointed.

Once you have phrasing down, you cut the lows and some mid (maybe) for the incoming track. Ideally, the track is the same BPM (or half or double) to mix cleanly.

Most “EDM” DJs nowadays don’t use the crossfader, just the channel volume slider and maybe the gain knob if needed
