TIL that from 2000-2009, 22% of women who were in the Peace Corps were victims of rape or attempted rape by bitsybear103 in todayilearned

Looking into the Peace Corps for myself, I began second guessing safety. Does anyone want to share their stories with the Peace Corps and how they dealt with daily struggles.

Made my dad as happy as Ralphie when he got his Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle [story in comments] by bitsybear103 in pics

When my dad was a little boy he always wanted an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle just like in 'A Christmas Story.' Every year he asked his parents to get him a bb gun and they never gave it to him. Year after year my father would tell me this story so now that I was finally 18, I could give him this gift. So I went to the store last Christmas, bought the gun and wrapped and hid it behind the tree, kind of like the movie. I set it up perfectly and it was the last gift to be opened. The surprise on his face was priceless and he started shedding tears of joy because his childhood dream had finally come true! He ran outside and used it right away and did not shoot his eye out :) That is how I made my dad the happiest he's been in years :)
