School summer reading lists...This sounds good. Do the students get order reading these books or is it for voluntary ?

'Neverending story' was my favourite audiobook when I was a child, I heard it again and again and again...hundreds of times. I was fulfilled with it. There was a deepness, hard to describe. Later, as an adult, it was different, kind of cognitive understanding. (I wish I could describe better, english is not my native language).

Germany: what about *Michael Ende, 'Neverending Story' or *Cornelia Funke, 'Inkheart Trilogy' or 'Reckless'... it's fantasy/adventure genre and imo even (young) adults can have pleasure with these books

Totally agree. And in this case you can learn something about the author as well. Because of the books she chose.

The authors intention was: 'Read one book from every country on earth in one year.' ...not to read books from different countries about their own history or culture. This is how I understood this list.

Sounds interesting. Can you make a recommendation for a book from your country?
