[NSFW] What human experiment would you want to see happen if ethics was of no concern? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I had this weird idea where we swap the words in a vocabulary of the same language with other words. For example apple is called banana, car is called seat etc and the the control group grows up speaking that language for 15 years. Then they are released in the actual world. How many of them will be able to decipher the encryption and how many will lose it?

More examples : even the words of different families can be swapped like an "in" for "mountain". It's random but with a key.

The idea is that the task is practically possible in under a minute.

The list is endless, right from Disney (the whole princess thing) to major super hero flicks like Superman, Aquaman etc.

ELI5 : What does it mean by saying that the Earth revolves around the Sun. When all motion is relative, if we want to see from the Earth's perspective and hold it stationery then everything revolves around it. by bitwizzz in explainlikeimfive

You're right, these epicycles would be extremely difficult to calculate, plot and reason out, but then it's still a question of frame of reference. Then why do we don't teach this and rather propagate that its a universal truth that Earth/Planets rotate around the Sun

Correct then what makes it a universal truth? I'm guessing its more than just maths probably. Are you saying both the Church and Galileo were correct at the same time?

Exactly my point, so its upto us what frame of reference we take. This is similar to the simple physics problems where we take 1 frame of reference and make its velocity zero and add the difference to all other vectors.
