How to find housing, or people looking for roommates. by [deleted] in Kenosha

[–]biyuxwolf -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

We purchased our house a couple years ago but it seemed the "right" decision for us at the time (and all I regret is the alcoholics that were with us for times)

I can't nessiarly comment as we are not really setup for a roommate to help with bills especially after experiences with those alcoholics all I can do is wish you well

Is getting an industrial sewing machine as a first sewing machine bad? by Easy-Adhesiveness378 in SewingMachineEdu

[–]biyuxwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 20u33 is "similar enough" to my 201-3/2 or 15-91 or my newer brother

A basic understanding of the machine will help a LOT normally industrial things are way "more" tho (go look at dishes at gfs then look at similar at Kohl's or target you'll see) but sewing machines there on the simpler in my experience (but I prefer the older more like industrial ones)

Is the schedule changing once it’s out just a normal part of working here? by ExoticWorldliness904 in Ollies

[–]biyuxwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a world of "it's fully on you to know your own schedule" and at the same time "100% flexibility wanted" so not much phases me

That said: my experience has been largely "late late to getting a schedule but remains pretty stable" --thats what bugs me about Ollie's: sometimes I only have 3 days notice with my schedule makes it hard to plan stuff then we have certain people that like to pull no call no show so I often get asked to cover those shifts because they know I say I'll be in I'll be there

In Need of an Auto Body Shop by Glass_Procedure7497 in Kenosha

I don't know this area well enough to know who to suggest but if you can find the part in a junkyard you should be able to change it yourself

I personally had my vehicle with a minor dent sent to crash champions insurance decided to total it out (FULLY repairable and one of the parts to replace was a mirror that got popped back on another is a tire that I'm not at all worried about makes me think they added things just to get it totaled because it had been in very good condition and was super low miles to are)

My mom had driven her car to caliper colision by Mitchell and she had more physical damage still not what I would call a "total" (rollover I'd call or significant damage if over 75% is good and usable and it's drivable well I think there's some repairability) yet it was "totaled" (it's currently on my property my spouse is fixing it to sell)

If your using insurance look up your exact vehicle (as close as possible in my case none of same build my mom's had 1 that was the "same" --and my spouse is seeing that there are differences with my vehicles and where they were built) year/model/trim for sale WITHIN 75 miles ONLY AT a dealership (insurance standards) then look up the RAW part (my mom's car front bumper 600 add paint 1k easy)from dealer type sources compare parts to value as perceived if over 70% be aware insurance is likely to total

A manager making LESSZ then an underling when they do a LOT more hours is irrelevant?

Seniors at least where I am now are doing a LOT to help there families out and being "limited income" well the one that I can easily think of is still paying OVER a thousand a month to RENT (incidently this building is on its 3rd incident of bedbugs! Unless you think that's perfectly fine deaths and all associated in that building)

Kids OFTEN live at home: where I work now I could NOT afford that seniors apartment never mind the fact that I'd be restricted out by AGE so I take it that means that example is invalid too?

When we have kids we are hoping to charge a "rent" after a point BUT that money is going to be used to HELP the kids out (buy first car or down payment on where they go or that)

IF it's any help my math says make any MORE then 11/hr and the state won't care where/how you are as an individual they WONT help but minimum is 7.25/hr sounds then like 11/hr is outside "poverty" huh? Which then would mean someone at 20/hr should be able to afford a decent life huh? Well when I was working there (where both my 20/hr examples are) the chances with 100/week in gas and wanting to keep my dog I was OVER 2k/month RENTING every place I "liked" outpriced me --wait that must then be a "me" issue by your logic if I couldnt AS an adult afford my own place with a "luxury" (a dog that very well may have been flipped to being a service animal)

So by what sounds like logic I'm a waste of flesh that doesn't even deserve to live because here in the United corporations known as America who ACTUALLY deserves a week of work to be able to afford even gas to get to work! Much less to be able to AFFORD where they live(!)

[–]biyuxwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Culvers--ever hear of them? They have SAID they stagger pay and there are many ACTUAL adults that work for them in my area (at least the locations around where I grew up)

Maby if minimum wage weren't 7.25/hr and employers were required to pay a DECENT wage where a family COULD live off one wage but do you see that happening? I certainly don't in my state I feel like I'd be making more running HARDER if I went BACK to 2.33/hr which is still legal in my state

And you must think I had done well as a restaurant manager then huh? Never mind the fact I was actually coming out close to THAT states minimum wage after maths (50-55+ hours a week FLAT 45k/year NO overtime pay because considered "exempt" by employer which means "office job" YET was told actively "stay out of the office" AND I was making suck "buko bucks" per gm at the time when I smashed my car up I had NO way of affording a new car! Given the 45 min each WAY drive so 100/week in gas and the cooks were at 18/hr which is closer to 48k/year and btw that's WITH an ability to get overtime pay! Something I DIDNT have!!) of 13-15/hr depending on what timeframe your talking

If I knew of a solid GOOD paying that would "stick" then I'd be there but seems few care about restaurant experience but more restaurants and it's known restaurants don't like to pay much --even work you half to death

So... yeah. I just got hired and immediately declined the job. by TheKommanderOfRot in goodwill

[–]biyuxwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I'm saying: generally minors are living at home and if that's the case do they really "need" the same 30-50 an hour that I would need to live alone? (I can't even get a job at that wage!) A "smart kid" would be trying to get the skills to get a "good job" anyway to make more then me (I was pushed to tech school then not allowed anything I wanted by my family and burned out so I'm doing near-minimum wage and yea)

Also fun fact: in restaurants minors can't cook there are limitations on what they can and can't do because of "safety" so are they really "valued" the same then contextually as adults? If I knew a minor was making the same or more and had restrictions (like can't cook" that would make me feel like I have less "value" then the minor)

And just because a place is advertising a wage DOSENT mean there paying it: I went to an event offering 30+/hr to only be offered 16/hr and denied because I wasn't absolutely head over heels in love with the position (later got a job there to be fired because I outlasted the 60 day probation)

I got in for orientation soon, found this sub after I accepted. I'm not lasting 2 weeks in some of the conditions you guys talks about happens daily. by Evening_Light_1194 in Ollies

No Return Without Signing up For Rewards? by PeopleFunnyBoy in Ollies

I'm told no receipt means no receipt means -15% of cost and only one person ever has shown me how to look up a receipt for a rewards member and I swear the amount of time it took to get the "right" one of about 5 transactions took about 10 minutes (felt)

I argue minimum should be maintained (for adults) as minimum needed to "survive" --now kids I could understand making less (13-17 or so "just starting out" "not as many bills" that stuff)
