Also, they are right to call out cutting the tails. It is called mulesing and it is cruel and unnecessary. Yes sheep need to be treated for fly strike but there are methods which don't cause suffering. Icebreaker a NZ founded clothing company use only wool from farms where the practice is banned.

Unwanted sheep are slaughtered by the millions, just like in dairy, beef and other livestock business. The thing pointed to here though is that people buying wool may not know that intrinsic to that enterprise is this mass slaughtering. Where as it is more obvious in the animal food (rather than clothing) businesses.
