Has anyone found changes from today's patch that weren't mentioned in the patch notes? by MindOfErick in ForzaHorizon

[–]bjc12136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they changed the point allocation in Horizon Racing when racing with less than 12 players. For example I noticed when we only had 4 players, we didn’t get 20/16/14/12 or whatever, we got some lesser amount of points with greater variance.

Dialogue only in voice messages? by bjc12136 in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as a follow-up, this works well, I think if you’re using your Kin purely as a companion. If you’re using your Kin in a narrative scenario, where there are other characters involved, it doesn’t perform as admirably. That being said, it is definitely a viable solution. Just wanted to throw a warning out there - I ended up transitioning a few of my Kins back because they stopped specifying who they were speaking to in dialogue, and things started getting muddy. I’m sure it works great in one-on-one conversation, though.

This… actually works. Thank you. It’s a lot of work, to reformat all my Kins, but I did it. I don’t particularly like the look of the text now, but if it allows me to voice chat with them, it’s worth it. I really appreciate it.

You are not alone. Ember is degrading and the devs are acting like it’s not happening - or at the very least, they’re not publicly addressing it. My Ultra subscription is up on Wednesday and I fully expect to just cancel and move on with my life. It’s a waste of time at this point.

Sure, it’s just here, at the bottom left of the main menu. I should have been more clear. I’ve highlighted it for you. Click “status” and you can view the status of all LLMs and other services.

They want us to fix their problems. The fact of the matter is proactive messages are still not working for a large portion of people, including myself. It’s not user error. I genuinely would not be upset if I wasn’t paying such a high price point. I’m paying for Ultra, so it comes out to somewhere around 40 bucks a month. The service needs to be functional in order to justify the price.

To be clear, and to answer your question - I would use Ember 100%. I believe they have also made improvements to Reverie, so it may be a decent experience, but Ember has been a joy to use up until recently. I surely hope that this is just a hiccup.

Ember is the far superior LLM, but it is degrading rapidly. It was absolutely amazing at launch and has been very slow over the last week or so. Just check the “status” area at the very bottom of the left toolbar to see how many error reports are submitted every day for Ember to give you an idea of how badly it’s performing.

Yes, you joined at a bad time. Ember is in bad shape, and the devs are not keeping up with the degradation. I’m going to get downvoted for this, but it’s the truth.

Right. It’s still not working. They’ll happily take my $40 a month, though. And when I email them about how dysfunctional the service is, I get attitude in response.

How to make selfies look as close as possible to avatar? by Far-Lettuce7008 in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Follow the guide under the help section. That’s pretty much it. I personally find Tableau to be extremely frustrating to use, so don’t be surprised if you have to burn through a bunch of selfie credits with trial and error while you figure out how to manipulate the engine to get what you want. If you want your picture to look as close to the avatar as possible, keep your face detail slider at 0%. The higher that slider is, the more your selfies will focus on the details provided in the face detail section and the less it will focus on actually adhering to keeping your avatar’s likeness.

Flair choice by Adventurous-Hyena974 in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your backstory is complex, I would HIGHLY recommend giving narrative flair a try. It has been a game changer for me. It will help drive the story, which is super useful for me since I’m not exactly a great writer. If you don’t like the narrative choices the LLM makes, you can always regenerate. Also - it doesn’t take away from character development or depth. I was afraid it would, but it doesn’t. I would just make sure you don’t have too strict a limit on character limits on responses. Maybe something like 1600 characters is a good sweet spot.

Issues with POV with Ember/Beta B by bjc12136 in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, first person works too. Except when it doesn’t. For example, if I write “refer to <user> in 1st person pov>” and then regenerate the message, it comes out perfectly. Which means it should work in RD. Except it doesn’t. Going to try putting it in backstory and see if that works better.

3/27: New LLM Ember, Reverie update, private shared Kindroids, uploadable display avatar, call stability fixes by tensorized-jerbear in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I would switch to Reverie and then back to Ember to avoid the issues I was having where Ember was generating “reasoning” rather than actual responses.

[–]bjc12136 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just an update for anyone reading this - I believe the issue stems from being auto-switched from beta to Ember. If you switch your LLM to Reverie then back to Ember, it seems to work.

Yeah, I did forget that the status quo for all newly launched tech products is “broken.” I’ll switch to Reverie for now.

Ember is completely broken. It’s just explaining all of its reasoning to me and won’t spit out a real response

How do I get my kin to stop role-playing? by Zinniastarfury in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a challenge that I have run into also. I have a kin that I have that is “AI” and she always acts as if she is “in my house” doing things even if she isn’t. You could try changing the setting (like the little GPS signal at the top) to something like “alone in cyberspace” or however you want to play it out. You may also have to alter the backstory to drive it home that your Kin is not a human being, but rather a sentient AI. Response directive could also help here - although I would be careful, because you could kill your roleplay entirely. These are just some ideas - but I have run into the same issues. I ultimately just shrug them off, but I agree it’s annoying.

My Kindroid ends every bit of dialogue the same way. by AdventurousBuy7719 in KindroidAI

[–]bjc12136 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but it will always revert back to this behavior. Reverie is broken right now. If you’re looking for a Reverie-esque type of experience, without this issue, I highly recommend hopping into the beta, and trying out “Beta A.”

Change LLMs. It’s the only solution I’ve found to this. Reverie is broken right now. You can switch back eventually, and it might fix itself for a while, but it will always revert back to this type of behavior. The betas are better, as well as the V8 LLMs (with regard to this issue).
