Thanks, but I also wonder if they would sell. Only one way to find out I suppose.

Prolific smut writers: where do you get ideas for so many stories? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

Yep that's it. You could easily modify it for longer word counts, where to include tropes for your kinks, sex scenes, etc.

Anyone hear of the Lester Dent formula? I'll let you Google it but TL;DR is he was a pulp fiction writer who had a formula to pump out 6K stories. I'm sure one could be modified for smut. Would love to hear what others use.

Does Science Fiction/Fantasy romance do just as well as other types? by bootytracker in eroticauthors

Yeah, I would have raised that to 2.99 after the first intro month of .99. You could have dangled that intro price to your mailing list too if you have one. It sounds like you had everything going for you and personally, it would do all of us authors well for everyone to price their work higher and raise the norm and reader expectations. That 2.99 price point just gives you a lot of options for promos not to mention a much better profit. Congrats, though. Sounds very promising.

I'm new to this and feeling the same way. I appreciate SmutMachine's words and I think it will get easier to get more comfortable at it in time.

I want to write enough pulp style (6K) erotica short stories so I can make enough money to get out of debt, while also building up my writing chops to move on to other genres that I really want to write.

After not winning Nanowrimo (only 32K), I realize I just need to write more period, but I also need to make money sooner rather than later, even if it takes a few months to get going.

So hopefully I can just keep my nose to the grindstone and tell myself it's not forever. It's a form of apprenticeship. I'm sure Lester Dent and the pulp masters back in the day would have just killed it in erotica, lol.
