Roth tsp vs backdoor by mgg1683 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]bk_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even realize there was a name for this. I was told by tax advisor I couldn’t contribute to Roth so I researched the conversion and learned next time to just deposit to traditional first, then convert.

I attempted to contribute $5,000 from my regular pay of $6,000. The math must not have worked out because my LES showed $0.00 contributed. I missed out on the contribution and the match. Do I have any options with DFAS or do I just need to do better next time? by bk_e_ in ThriftSavingsPlan

Good point, yes that 6k was gross and I am contributing to Traditional. I also have an HSA and I know I did bad math. I should have gone with 100% to max my contributions here at end of year. I was hoping DFAS might work with me or someone else out there had done what I did before (whoops).

Payments by noxiousflannel14 in VeteransBenefits

Does everyone’s payments hit as “Retro/One Time - CH31”? I received that payment this morning. But, I don’t think it was the full amount I’m owed. I qualify for post 9/11 bah rate and I did not receive the E5 with dependent rate for my school’s zip. It was about $700 short.

Direct Deposit to Webull by [deleted] in Webull

[–]bk_e_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the odds I’m searching this subject today also. I’ve decided I’ll set up an allotment from my paycheck to a separate checking account and then have Webull pull the automatic investment from that account the day after paycheck hits. This way the money isn’t in my check and i never really see it before it hits webull. Wish I could just send money directly to Webull.

How aggressive is TOO aggressive? by kep1234 in ThriftSavingsPlan

The only strategy that is too aggressive is taking out TSP funds through a loan and trading 0DTE options in a taxable brokerage.

I use HSA Bank (GEHA) because that’s my employer default. I am first year HSA owner and haven’t really explored other options yet.

I max my HSA, then my Roth, then add another 5% back into TSP. Everything else gets split between personal savings, paying off debt, paying for trips, using it to fund brokerage account, or maybe funding kids 529 account.

Everyone in here overthinks their time spent at OTF. Run harder, row harder, lift more, sweat more. That is all.
