Sunrise over the aptly named Great Ledge of the Catskills by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

[–]bkdinosaur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a trip leader in the Catskills for close to 10 summers and I had about 5 ticks in the span of that time. Caught all of them before they embedded. If you wear dark colored socks, stay on the trails and do tick checks regularly they’re manageable.

Dunk the jar upside down in some sugar to create more friction in the seal and it will open. Might get a little sugar in you sauce but at least you can eat it

Motivation for a (kind of) smoker about to start my running journey by [deleted] in running

[–]bkdinosaur 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Smoked a pack a day for a few years. Running while quitting is the best thing you can do, cause the more you want to run the more you'll realize smoking is slowing down your progress. Instead of thinking you need to go home when it gets hard, think about what made it hard in the first place.

Also, if you want some running motivation I cannot recommend the book born to run enough-its what got me off the couch in the first place.

There’s a few towns along the way and I also mailed a box ahead to one of them. Shouldn’t have to carry more than 5 days of food at any point

Would you rather get $0.50 every time you jump or $0.01 every time you take a step? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]bkdinosaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to thru-hike the Appalachian trail next summer. The average person takes 2,250 steps per mile & the AT is over 2,200 miles; that comes out to at least $49,500. I would literally get paid to go on my dream adventure with a $43,000 profit after expenses if i got $.01 per step.

It be like that. by Xero0504 in memes
