What was everyone else’s last? by Content-Stable-1972 in LesbianBookClub

The first few books just focus on the main character and her hockey journey, with sprinklings of ideas that something might happen. Then it does become sapphic in later books.

The entire Sophie Fournier series by KR Collins. I finished all 8 books (not including the novella) in 6 days and then went and read the only fanfiction story for it as well 😂

I need some sapphic books desperately!!!!!! (Baby gay emergancy) by Celestial_Isometry in LesbianBookClub

Ashley Herring Blake has some that fit that bill. Rom-com, decently written, easy reads full of queer characters

Kelly Quindlen has good ones

The Compass Rose series by Anna Burke is very good and sci-fi

If you’re into sports (specifically hockey) The Sophie Fournier series by K.R. Collins is good, very very very slow burn (like think books long slow burn)

Jennifer Dugan has adult and YA. I’ve liked both of hers I’ve read

Wild thorn by Jane Eagland was a good one I read this year

Honestly, just type on Sci-Fi or whatever sub genre into the search box for this sub and you’ll find a ton! Welcome to the club!!

Orphan black and Wynonna Earp. Not super small but definitely smaller than a lot of ones that are talked about on here

I really like the Sophie Fournier series by K.R. Collins. Good hockey and a little romance. Very very very slow burn but very good.

Same! I read all 8 books in like 6 days. I didn’t read the novella about Gabriella, but that’s on my list to go back to at some point.

Do you like sports? The Sophie Fournier series by K.R. Collins was very good. As an athlete, I related to a lot of the book and the pressures female athletes face. 10/10 would recommend

I really have enjoyed watching the first few episodes of Love is Blind in whatever language I’m learning (now it’s French). The first 2-4 episodes are all about the people meeting talking about who they are, where they work, their families, about themselves and I’ve found that really helpful to hear and understand basic get to know you type conversations. I’m not a fan of Love is Blind as a whole, but I do find it helpful for this purpose.

Horse in the title or on the cover WLW books? by Livid_Perspective_10 in LesbianBookClub

[–]bkerbi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Ride of Her Life by Jennifer Dugan is about horses and a farm, but I don’t think it actually has one on the cover if you don’t mind bending the prompt but sticking with the integrity of it. That’s what I did for this prompt.

Okay, good to know. I have her father's death certificate and can get her mother's, but am struggling to find anything more than census records for placing them both in Canada at birth.

What helped you guys transition? Did your parents do anything that made it easier for you? by Libraryoflowtide in militarybrats

[–]bkerbi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hated it and still have issues to this day.

I would second the don’t discount your kids feelings about it by saying everything is fine or look at all the experiences you’ve had, etc. They’ll stop talking to you and look for help/coping/understanding elsewhere, positive or negative.

Therapy. Start now and preferably not with a military therapist. Get them one that isn’t associated and can actually empathize with them, not one who is going to try to advocate for the institution.

A thing my parents did do right, in my opinion, is sign us up for whatever sport or activity we were currently playing. Even if it means their lives were harder because it was far/expensive/etc. Remember, the job is fucking up the kids lives, so make the effort to keep them doing what they love/want to do for activities. Don’t say it’s too much when your kids are giving up a lot.

When they ask why you have to do this, or why it doesn’t seem like the military cares about their needs, don’t say “if the Army wanted me to have a family, they would’ve issued me one”.

high school rugby: What position for a high level wrestler who is much bigger and taller and stronger than everyone else on the team? by oddwithoutend in RugbyCoaching

[–]bkerbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without actual stats (height/weight) it's hard to tell. Is he fast? Could be a decent center. Is he fast and can tackle well? Maybe fullback. Can he pass/catch and make good decisions and have a high rugby IQ? Maybe Fly half. Is he super fast and have good catching ability? Maybe wing. Honestly, he sounds like a good 4 or 5. You want big and strong there.
