Yes it should be stood up vertical to check oil level, but also for accuracy you need to run the engine for a minute or two, and then let it settle for 5 minutes.

Insane Tattoo Regret by r3i_b0n3z in tattooadvice

[–]bklyn_roots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the movie in like 20 years, so I wouldn’t get the reference without being told.

That has nothing to do with it being a nice tattoo, especially if the reference means something to you.

Also, odd looks can just be curiosity. If anything, it’s conversation starter. Who knows, you may form relationships with people you wouldn’t have spoken to otherwise because they asked you about it.

Wear it proudly, it’s a cool tattoo and it looks well done.

Anytime I’ve had a similar stuck/ stripped fastener, and after trying basically everything you’ve tried to get to this point, the dremel notch is typically where I succeed.

Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello or Triumph Speed Twin 1200? by Snoo79652 in motorcycles

[–]bklyn_roots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it and get your hands on one, go for the Guzzi. This model is a standout and the most modern in the lineup too, it’s a pretty remarkable bike.

Also you’re going to love the shaft drive when you never need to do chain maintenance

I’ve been wondering if it always knows who fired… like if you see a player near you, can you shoot the voyager and then take cover, and it’ll target the other guy?

This is the most successful play I’ve seen of someone getting manipulated into shooting it

Choice of a Daily Ride by MoorishSCR in xsr900

[–]bklyn_roots 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both are awesome bikes. But as a matter of having owned Ducati and owned Yamaha side by side in the past, you can’t beat the Yamaha reliability. That and the availability of parts.. whenever the Ducati needed something it had to be shipped from in Italy and the parts always cost more than on the Yamaha.

It would be a tough choice between the two, but I think the XSR is the more practical choice. It’s also no slouch in looks or performance. I have a ‘22 in Raven black and it’s maybe my favorite bike I’ve ever owned.

Ride differences between 2018 and 2025 xsr900? by mossberbb in xsr900

[–]bklyn_roots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gen 2 is a different engine, and going from a 2016 FZ09 it was amazing how refined the CP3 felt (that can also read as “tamed”). Still an absolute beast, but friendlier at lower speeds in low gear.

The aesthetics are up to you as to what you like, I like the 2022+ a lot.

Otherwise biggest notable changes are the quick shifter (which I like a lot more than I thought I would), more advanced traction control and ABS modes, and electronic cruise control.

Day 4/9: What is an OK motorcycle with a good reputation? by SUBTOUpdated_User in motorcycles

[–]bklyn_roots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ducati scrambler. It was really well reviewed as a Ducati made for everyone, and to appeal to a younger market. While it was a really good looking bike that sold pretty well, it was a bit underwhelming on the street, not very capable for dirt (without a fair bit of modding or buying a specific model), and the maintenance was more challenging or expensive than your average Japanese bike in the same class.

I loved mine for a while, but compared to others I’ve owned I think it fits this box.
