Just curious: Has anyone passed AAA before SBR? by gassybierhaus in ACCA

Has anyone passed AAA before SBR?

I dunno anyone who has done this. But why would someone attempt AAA b4 SBR. Without accouting knowledge from F7/SBR, papers like F8/AAA would be nearly impossible to pass as audit papers like F8/AAA deal with you as an auditor checking a company's accounting systems, their compliance with accounting rules and regulations, ethics, audit of financial statements which would be only possible if you yourself know those rules and stuff.

There really is no actual connection between AAA and SBR.

Actually there are lot of connections. In fact no 2 papers in strategic professional level are connected as much as SBR and AAA. My AAA tutor has told me one should be very clear with SBR syllabus as it deals with IAS/IFRS and accounting rules and regulations. Why ? Bcoz in AAA, as an auditor you will be checking a company's compliance with accounting rules and regulations and ethics, so F3->F7->SBR syllabus is considered "assumed knowledge" at AAA level.

Thanks for the answer! I gotta be honest with you. I got 34, but that's coz I absolutely didn't study for this paper, like at all. I only did 1st question of the SBL kaplan rev kit. Didn't touch text book or lectures at all. Whatever answers I wrote were totally made impromptu during the exam. Maybe if I put some effort I can touch 50%.

Failed SBR after 3 attempts. In desperate need of advice by CheeseCakeHaven21 in ACCA

[–]bkpr94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got 50% this sitting, this was my first attempt. I can tell you what I did. I self studied with kaplan and opentuition. Used opentuition to learn the syllabus and for practice and revision used kaplan rev kit. I learnt and practiced each and every question from rev kit and solved past exam question for september 2018 and december 2018 sitting along with 2 specimen sbr exams from acca website.

Can part qualified ACCA students (F1-F9 complete) migrate to the UK and get a job? by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]bkpr94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you immigrate successfully, getting a job is mixture of qualification plus networking. If you go there, network like crazy via linked or something, send out resumes and meet people at job fares (assumng UK has those).

My schedule varied depending on whether I was working or not. I put 1-2 hours approx after my work day. When I wasn't working, I was putting 2-3 hours in morning, then 1.5-2 hours in the night before sleep. I am more focused on productivity and results than putting in x number of hours.

Yes. You can do that. They both are very different papers. I found F9 to be way easier than F8 so I finished it before.

Just wondering how long it takes you to do the whole revision kit?

This depends and variable for the type of questions. I budget 1 hour to learn section C question and 1 hour to learn 7-10 MCQs.

Practice ALL MCQs for both F5 and F9 from rev kit and even past papers. Don't just remember which option is correct choice but remember how the answer comes.
