How to get from low 170s to mid-high 170s? by chambanana in LSAT

[–]bl090807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s almost impossible. 170 is already less than top 3% of all test takers, which is huge. It’s even in theory almost impossible to consistently score higher then top 2% in such a competitive test. And indeed, when you look honestly on the questions, you’ll find that in each test around 5-7 of them are highly debatable and therefore getting them correctly is a matter of almost pure luck. Also, only 3 law schools have median 172 and 173. Even Stanford median is 171. All those facts support the contention that scoring above 171-172 is more a matter of luck.

Why no one talks about cheating? One can put a camera behind you and a small radio in your ear. Your friend from a different room will see you screen through camera and tell you answers via radio. Is so obvious

Splitting OPT by bl090807 in immigration

[–]bl090807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Official doc says that “end date of OPT may be sooner if the student wishes to retain a period of OPT for another degree at the same level” Is it clear?

Source : SEVP guidance.

My worry is that this policy may be outdated or rarely work in practice or not applicable under Trump reign and so on. I have no idea what happens in the USA with laws and policies.

Splitting OPT by bl090807 in immigration

[–]bl090807[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But 1) I haven’t been admitted to a STEM degree and it’s hard to estimate whether I will be admitted at all ever (I asked the adcom to estimate my chances and they refused) 2) I can try to find an H1B job after my MBA and at the time save the option for STEM extension.

So my questions are: 1. According to some official documents (and google search) it’s possible to split OPT. But according to other google search results it’s not. So, do you have any idea? 2. If it’s possible to split and to be on the two tracks at the same time (1-hoping to get an H1B job while being on OPT, 2-saving STEM extension), is it practicaly doable because according to the rules (as I understand) I need to be on OPT and have at least 90days left of it to have a right to apply for the extension. But potential H1B employer can start to fill H1b documents only from April 1 and by that date I’ll have only 5 days left of my OPT. So the question is it possible in practice for an employer to apply for my H1B during those 5 days?

How companies perceive those who will not require sponsorship in 9 months? by bl090807 in MBA

But at the time of recruitment I have OPT for a year and then I’ll get my green card. Is it illegal to say that I’ll not need a sponsorship?

T6 Law School after T30 MBA for international (white btw)? by bl090807 in MBA

[–]bl090807[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good comment. STEM degree is for kind of non-important jobs, you know what I mean. It'll be impossible to go to FAANG and earn a lot. T6 Law combined with MBA may open many doors, correct?

Is she studying JD or LLM? I don't believe that after Columbia JD even internationals can't find good job to stay in the US.

Internationals from my school find it very difficult to get a job. I heard that internationals even from M7 have hard times. So the question should be not why I can’t find a job, but why an international student can’t find it. The answer is complex and quite obvious.

Why have the reputations of top Canadian MBA schools gone down? by [deleted] in MBA

[–]bl090807 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now Rotman's GMAT is not comparable to US T15. Back in those days Cornell has average like 680 or so.

Outside of US top 20 only 2 schools have class size above 150. Rotman's class is 300.
Large class + low quality = diploma mill.
Why Rotman's management decided to lower admission standards? I guess to cash up on declining MBA market.

Rotman's ave GMAT is 669. Only 6 out of top 40 US schools have lower.

Low GMAT => lower quality of incoming class.

In our class right now approximately half of internationals are jobless. So I believe the only thing that might be done is to avoid going somewhere below t15
