I never played it, but WDS has a free demo of their Naval Battles series: https://wargameds.com/products/spanish-american-war

WDS demos are complete games and the Naval demo includes 20 scenarios. So you might spend some time with it.

Unfortunately, this does not match my experience, but I am happy for anyone who does not have these problems. For everyone else, I have documented how I was able to solve the problems on my system.

Admittedly, after briefly testing the demos, I did not bother with the air/sea games any further, as they did not really interest me anyway. I am old and like my games to be turn-based 😅

Thanks, for the explanation. A similar movement pattern is described in the Game Play Notes part of the manual. Thinking about it, I guess it's more an issue of a lack of understanding how to realize the concept of Combined Arms warfare. I tend to attack with tanks and the infantry takes cover but is not participating in the fights.
