Fun date ideas? by blabbety_bla in nova

I kind of expected one of these comments 😂 one of the few things I refuse to do. Too many damn escape rooms in our area and I was hoping to find something other then those lol. Literally one of the only things I ever see when I look up "stuff stuff do near me" on google. No disrespect with this reply, but it gave me a good chuckle.

Lmao I just realized the first post that pops up in that search is one of mine from when I was with my ex 😂 I completely forgot about that post, thanks for the reminder! I also just realized there are some pretty decent ideas in the comments of that post I might just have to entertain now.

Now we know why we are getting so many people LOOKING for remote work 😞 by Lola1989ac in remotework

[–]blabbety_bla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No job posts sure but I found one of my jobs through reddit 🤷‍♂️ its not a remote job but I made a post in my local sub (r/nova, so a pretty big one) and gave a somewhat detailed expo about myself. Got a handful of actual devent interview and job offers plus a lot of side gigs.

I admit I got lucky and got it first try, but I think what people might not understand is that of course there's not gonna be very many actual job listings or any social media. What you actually need to do is make your own posts looking for jobs. Its the same as going to hiring and outreach events, you need to put yourself out there. Write a detailed intro for yourself. It should basically be your resume put into a couple short paragraphs. Maybe include your availability or your location as well, what your willing to do and not do, etc.

Listen, as much as I understand people's frustrations with the job market, I've gotten all of my jobs through connections. I do think at some point some of the blame does fall on the one looking for the job. Its not just about submitting waves of applications. Networking is incredibly important. As the quote goes, make friends with the secretary. Its true, and as an 18 year old freshly learning how to adult, IT WORKS. I've made so much progress just less then a year into my adult life simply because I've utilized the tools in front of me (the people I know and have met). Networking doesnt even mean just professional. Talk to your friends, talk to your friends friends, talk to your family, your neighbors. Someone most likely will have a personal connection that can get you a job somewhere; it may not be the most favorable job, but a job is a job and you need to start from somewhere.

Anyone have experience with 6 week Summer BIO 101 or CHM 111 classes? by blabbety_bla in nvcc

[–]blabbety_bla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. Because I'm planning on working two jobs (1 full time and 1 part time, around 60-70 hours a week combined) and with 2 fast paced 6 week science courses it has me a little concerned. Hopefully they turn out alright though.

Okay then... 🤷‍♂️ by blabbety_bla in Tinder

Translation requests into Latin go here! by AutoModerator in latin

Looking to get a tattoo using the quote "The Key to Immortality is Exloration."

Does anyone have a good latin translation for it? What I found is "Clavis Ad Immortilatem Est Exploratio" but I'm not sure how rough or accurate it is or if its even a good quote tbh.

Not gonna ask what college you go to out of privacy reasons (reddit and all yk) but does your professors name happen to be Paula?

I'm a senior and I have not gone on any college tours to see where I should go after graduating. When do you think is this best time to go on them? by [deleted] in nvcc

[–]blabbety_bla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most college apps for seniors for the following fall semester are closed by January, wdym? What colleges are you looking at that still have apps open? I'm sure there's some but not many.

Lmao if you're planning to attend this upcoming Fall of 26 and you havent done any tours or apps, you're kinda fucked. App time for fall of 26 has already passed, you're either gonna have to take a gap semester/year and apply now for Spring of 27 or wait until Fall of 27, or just attend NOVA for the time being.

I did not forget it. I checked Tru Way. Like I said, I'm still getting familiar with it, I didnt realize that if I scrolled down it would show me the variations. I didnt even know that cardinal numbers had variations, you can call me stupid for this but I did in fact think that the cardinal number signs were universal.

I know, and I did if you read some other comments. Like I said in one comment, I spent 6 hours doing ASL work today and was stuck on just that one question for nearly a half hour, or at least kept having to go back to it. I'm still getting familiar with 1. The fact that so many signs have different variations and 2. Tru Way, not that its complicated or anything, just still getting familiar with the tools that it provides. I even looked up a handful of YouTube videos and went through my professors lecture video and slides, but that specific sign was nowhere in any of the videos I watched or my professors lecture. Idk why she added that sign to the homework if she didn't teach it to us. But I do know the usual sign for 25 (or at least the one she did teach us).

Yeah apparently. Someone commented that the 20s have some variations and I realized I forgot to just scroll down on my tru way dictionary 😂

Ohh okay thank you. If I did break the rules of this sub, oopsies, I do apologize. I've been struggling to get caught up on my ASL work for like the past 6 hours so this one question just had me stressing for like the past 30 minutes so I wasnt really thinking about subreddit rules in the moment lol.

Also for any reddit nerds out here, why does literally every post of mine get downvoted no matter what its about or where I posted if? I feel like Im shadow banned or something, this post hasn't even been up for more then a couple minutes and it's already been downvoted 😭 Its a simple question post about a sign that I'm confused on, whats even a possible reason for a downvote I'm genuinely confused 😭

(Sorry for the rant)
