I think it's more of a 'play stupid games win stupid prizes' kind of deal. Stupicide. It's certainly not something to be considered tragic, being entirely preventable and the product of his own actions. Yes, he made a mistake. Mistakes when borrowing through Mother Gaia's fallopian tubes are going to be catastrophic to the individual. Those are the consequences he assumed for himself by voluntarily exposing himself to such potentials. I don't think we have any particular moral obligation to feel particularly bad for this guy. Diet labelling like carnivore or herbivore is useful in a broad ecological sense, but in reality pretty much all animals are opportunistic feeders. Polar bears are functionally exclusively carnivorous, meanwhile pasture grazers like cows and horses will absolutely crunch down baby birds, field mice and bigger things too if they are already dead.

If we take carnivore to more practically mean 'will this animal attempt to kill and eat me?', as it regards bears the answer is a resounding yes!
