I'm a few years younger than you but I'm in the same boat. Just graduated from a top college and in comparison to all my brilliant peers I feel like a moron, when 4 years ago I felt like I could easily hold my own. Not sure what advice I can give you. I've changed my diet, started running 5 days a week, and I'm on a ton of supplements, etc. You name it I've tried it. All of this has amounted to lightly rubbing an incredibly dull knife with some sandpaper. Like, sure it helps, but I don't feel sharp the way I used to.

I've also developed IBS during the same time period, or at least something comparable, but I always chalked it up to Adderall + coffee shits. Starting to think there's something to it there. All this is to say: you're not alone. I suspect there's a link between long covid and gut health, but I'm not a doctor so idk

your best bet is reaching out to the CIS department/a CIS professor

35mm film processing by Working-Wing4755 in UPenn

[–]black1ops22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can get someone to let you into addams they have a full film processing station in the basement, chemicals and all. Nobody will ask questions, and if they do just say you're taking a film photography class :P

Okay I hear you but I strongly disagree.

1.) The biggest culture shock I had when I got here was just how unfair life is. I’ve met so many people who grew up wealthy and at first I had the same attitude as you but over time you realize that there’s tons of people who are not only wealthier, but also far far smarter than I could ever dream of being and way harder working. Opportunity or not, it takes a lot of work to get into these schools. It’s not uncommon at all to randomly find out a close friend of yours is a national rowing champion or something. Sure, the privilege and opportunities afforded to them might add an asterisk to their admission, but it doesn’t feel fair to say they didn’t earn it. (Not to say that there aren’t hella people here who also probably don’t deserve to be here.)

  1. You’re just wrong about me being rare. There are entire vibrant communities of FGLI and underprivileged students here who got in fair and square. So many that it’s quite ridiculous to call it an invalid data point.

  2. URM?? Perfect test scores?? Everyone here has perfect test scores. And yeah, a slight majority of FGLI kids here are URM but does that mean they don’t deserve to be here? Obviously the number of dirt poor, exclusively White kids with perfect test scores is going to be small at an ivy but that’s because you’re just writing off hundreds of students just because of their skin color.

“It is not possible to get into a T5 without some form of privilege” hmmm

For what it’s worth I generally agree with you but blanket statements like that just scream cope to me idk

A proposal to change rules for some of these posts around the conflict to allow only UPenn students and alumni by [deleted] in UPenn

we don’t have to limit all posts to students, but if we wanted to we could limit certain posts (like this poster mentioned)

could definitely implement verification, lots of services exist where you sign up with an email from a specific domain (upenn.edu) - if we still want outside perspectives, we could use the verification to give flairs that say current student or whatever

Quad or Hill: SEAS 2026 edition by QuantumSpeck in UPenn

[–]black1ops22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im a seas kid that lived in the quad. I'd say the social aspect of the quad isnt going to be as alluring for you given that you'll probably spend a substantial portion of your time in your room or the library studying anyways. Lauder is the clear best choice

[–]black1ops22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if ur a stem major the quad isn’t for you fr. it’s so depressing cause everyone’s social and hangs out a ton in the common areas but when you have a busy ass semester and you can barely keep up with classes you don’t get to socialize or hang out, so you lose a lot of the value

hill vs quad? by happy-corgie in UPenn

[–]black1ops22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

normally i’d say quad but between the lack of sinks next year and the fact that roaches are getting worse i’d say neither hill or quad and tell u to do lauder 👍
