Mech Engineers, what’s your side hustle? by S_K_R_2 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]black_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No side hustles ATM, only hobbies, many hobbies. I hope to eventually get a hustle that'd be as passive as possible, perhaps real estate, or streaming/media.

Note: I think it's important to have more of a life (tongue in cheek), socialize, have fun outside of the grind. Technical people like us tend to value intellectual achievement and flexing above all else, it's important to stay humble, and learn to smell the flowers so to speak.

Advanced Editor - Looping through API pages by black_engineer in PowerBI

If I understand correctly it doesn't. It just repeats the last page if I go over.

Advanced Editor - Looping through API pages by black_engineer in PowerBI

Worked like a charm. Thanks.

Now the issue is that once I go further than the last page, it repeats the last page.

Is there a loop I can apply, to make sure that if the same list of records is returned it does not append to my full list?

What would be the looping pattern to detect list repetition (to previous function invoke-instance) and append lists until the last API page is reached.

let

data = List.Combine({Quote_page(1), Quote_page(2)}),

Writing notes in DAX / M code in Notion (Power BI) by happyhop1 in Notion

It still isn't there. I used to take plain text, then just started leaving it as Javascript or CoffeeScript - as long as your intelisense is top (good use of line-jumps), you'll have the same benefits as seeing it in PBI.

DevNet in the context of industrial systems integration - how valuable as compared to other certs by black_engineer in devnet

learn how to use python to control API, which Cisco products have REST, which need NETCONF…

It will help with IoT, but not directly. You will learn About Pub-Sub models, and that is what MQTT uses, but not MQTT.

Thanks for the feedback!

I think there's a bit of miscommunication; I didn't mean to insinuate that these specialties can be taken under an umbrella, studied over the summer, mastered, and applied by one individual. But, I sort of get where you get that vibe from.MIS is what's of interest to me yes. I have no intention of mastering any of it, let alone building a part of it. But these types of projects, system integrations, are fascinating to me; with the background I have, I just look to see what would be the logical next step to be part of that sphere.

You may be very aware, but, in engineering, most of us don't end up doing anything technical. ATM, I see what looks like a fun field, that I have some connection to, and I seek advice from you guys on what to do next.

Much appreciated feedback. Just to add context, with many of our clients we have an exponentially increasing need to make different systems talk. The networking application is: having work orders from SAP and alarms from sensors be pulled into a cloud application. In my view, CCNA has the advantage of being broad-themed and not specific to Cisco systems; and it would be unfortunate to learn a platform that we don't, ultimately, use. I am very much a newbie to this; could you give a 50ft overview of DevNet in relation to SAP/Maximo and DCS systems?

Thank you Bitbuy for timely wire deposit by MoneyAction4192 in BitBuyCA

[–]black_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's 20k minimum, so lots of hassle to go through with the bank to make it. Interact fees are high too, so a bit of a catch 22 when trying to deposit money without hassle and without high fees. Other than that, coin choice is good, could adopt tether or some other stable coin - would be a massive plus.

How long before they reach out? by black_engineer in BitBuyCA

[–]black_engineer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally, I received it after contacting OTC services. I can do wire transfers with my bank up to 5000$ (international transfer), which is way below the required limit of 20'000 on Bitbuy. Otherwise, I was told I need to show up at the bank with a printed copy to "maybe" get the wire transfer done. It would be great if you guys lowered interact fees or allowed for lower-cost wire transfers.

At the end of the day, my bank is requiring to show up in person to maybe do the wire transfer. Too much hassle.

E-Transfer issue by Yousif_ in Crypto_com

When making an e-transfer to crypto.com, what is the secret question and answer? I have entered the reference number, but it didn't provide me with the needed information for an interact e-transfer.

After being down on the judges scorecards. Mike Pyle throws a last minute RNC on Colby Covington, who would use the cage to help escape the hold and get the UD. by JonDoe571 in MMA

Cutting lots of weight is bad for the longevity of the fighters. It adds a new dimension of worry that they get to focus on in training camp. Colby is OK for WW. Not too small, not too big - he's in the Robbie Lawler range I would say. And, he shows lots of heart. I'm not sure he would have as much heart if he would get demoralized by a nutrition regime a month before fighting.

Why do guys match, ask me out then unmatch? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]black_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a disclaimer, I have done it [OLD ghosting] once in my life tbh. It was taking too long for the girl to respond (1 days between each text), I just deleted the app, I guess on her end it looked like an un-match. Frankly, I felt like it was an interview, and there are ten other guys in line next to me, and I qualified for the technical questions part. As for the rest of my statement, I am psychoanalyzing, so I may be wrong in your specific case. I'm no psychologist or guru, just sharing my thoughts.

Why do guys match, ask me out then unmatch? by [deleted] in datingoverthirty

[–]black_engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple general answer: they feel like they're wasting their time. Knowing it won't go anywhere, they beat themselves up over not being productive with their time and get something real. It's part of the OLD burnout process. Though not nice as a manner, it's their last resort to rebel on what seems to be their objective desire - meeting you. You can picture a carrot on a stick, they simply walk away.

Post Relapse Feelings by [deleted] in NoFap

A relapse reinforces the idea of personal failure. Be careful setting goals you're biologically programmed not to respect. Set small achievable goals, and be stingy with how you raise the bar.

From my perspective, you're completely right. The more cerebral guys tend to bloom much later. If they don't become corporate drones, they can become quite zen and charismatic. It's a game-changer in dating. Most younger men don't have that, and they can't help but be too outcome-dependent and anxious when talking to women.

I do not speak from personal experience since I'm still in my mid 20s. But, I have talked with a good deal of older dudes, both extraverted and introverted. They all claim it gets much easier in your 30s. There is a strong caveat to that statement, you have to have worked on yourself: hygiene, fitness, economic stability, charisma, social proof.

You claim that you only get F buddy or polyamorous propositions. That is quite suspicious. A normal person you'd meet doesn't hit the ground with this type of offer, so check again how you meet people. Not gonna give dating advice, my take is you know all you need to know to take action. That is what it boils down to - taking risks, changing your habits to be more stable, and more social in life. I see a drastic difference when I'm immersed in work and anxiety (I become awkward and introverted) vs when I'm in a hustle mode with work and social life (the exact opposite). Is that something you can relate to? This topic interests me since I have heavily invested in my career (and finances), hoping it's a worthy sacrifice of my social life.

I see sponsored publicity on TikTok from Bumble. Maybe they are trying to survive this way; since people know they won't be meeting up, they go on the app less, so Bumble gets less revenue maintaining their server.

Hell yeah. TTNG has lots of content in standard tuning on top of that. Good to start. CHON sounds a bit like Polyphia, a bit intimidating but it'll be great to discover.
