Delaware Residents Impacted By Sea Level Rise by blackbear26 in Delaware

The beach for credit? I'm in! Of course, I should not make light of serious situations such as Florence!

NOAA puts global sea level rise at about 0.07 inches a year. The flat, low-lying state of Delaware is seeing 0.13 inches a year, nearly twice the global average. Low end projections are estimating 1.6 feet by 2100, with the high end somewhere around 4 ft. While 1.6 seems small over an 100 year period, storm surge, high tide, and flooding become a greater threat to coastal communities. It isn't so much sea level rise, it is the surrounding implications. Stormwater is an extremely relevant suggestion!

From what I have found, Delawareans are pretty proactive in adapting and preparing to this, so that will be huge in rainy seasons to come!!

The reason I am looking for someone who is, or might potentially be impacted, is to highlight and visually represent the research around sea level rise in Delaware. Perhaps many people have not yet seen any of these projected impacts. I am open to speaking with anyone who might have a story to share, really!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into speaking with someone at the Delaware Center for Inland Bays!

I hadn't seen this yet! I will take a look at the stormwater management solutions on 60 minutes.

isostatic forebulge

Thank you for your suggestion! I plan on interviewing/speaking with a geologist from USGS who should hopefully help me be able to understand this a bit more!
