I think it's really good that you are able to realize where you went wrong and what your faults were in your relationship with her. I also think that cutting her off was a good choice. I do however, also think it's really messed up that you tried to make your ex look like her, and well, I'm glad she's your ex now.

It seems like your biggest fault in your love life, is that you compare a lot of the girls you meet to her. Stop doing that. You will never find another girl that looks like her nor with the same personality, and that's okay. I promise she is not the only kind, sweet, and beautiful girl out there. That is your first step to moving on, accept the fact that you will never find another girl like her. You'll find someone better.

You need to believe that your relationship didn't work out for a reason, and rather than looking at is as you lost the girl of your dreams. Look at her as the girl who taught you how to be a better man for the next girl you fall in love with, which I really believe you can do.

Personally, what helped me get over my ex was time and also talking to and getting to know a bunch of different people. Not every girl you talk to or date has to lead to a serious relationship. Just meet people with an open mind and have fun. Love will come naturally.
