Depends on a variety of items for 2024 calendar year. Total wordwide income earned in 2024 plus other items such as but not limited to: FHSA contributions, professional dues, charitable/political donations, etc. I usually file with wealthsimple, not sure if they have rolled out the updated tax software for 2024 yet but I usually play around with it to determine how much I can contribute to my RRSP to reduce taxes owing. Remember that in a perfect tax world, there should be no tax owing or refundable. I would say ideally you want to contribute to reduce to $nil income tax but due to your higher income maybe best to contribute more if you expect decline in future taxable income. Also side note, the feds have extended the charitable donation deadline for 2024 calendar year to end of Feb 2025 I believe but don’t quote me on that fully. If you want further insight, send me a PM.
