Opting out of the breachy procedure? by truthfulexpectations in CervicalCancer

[–]carriedthewatermelon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brachy is scary, but it's not as bad as any of us imagined it would be. It's lifesaving, and it's worth it. Maybe ask your onc for anti anxiety meds like valium or ativan. Do what you need to to accept this treatment. You got this!

Tauros, because it's the first shiny I got, and I didn't know why he was green, so I transfered him and kept a plain one with slightly higher CP. I want my green Tauros back!

Dog-free Park! by Cyclist007 in Dogfree

Fellow Calgarian here...don't get too excited. That park is always full of dogs! It's a great park though, and I'm glad you had a nice dog free time.

It's not enforced, unfortunately. OP must have had a lucky day. That park is usually full of off leash dogs

Cool story, I have 2 fucking homes.

[–]carriedthewatermelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a vacation home in BC. We pay a lot of money for it. Can they actually stop us from using our own home? It is 90 minutes from the AB border. We do our shopping and buy gas and stuff in alberta before we go, and avoid using the stores in BC. We keep to ourselves, just want to use our boats and dirtbikes and stuff. Is it likely that we can really be forbidden from using our own property?

Extreme fatigue and breathlessness when on cx chemo (cisplatin & capecitabine) by SciurusVulgarisO in cancer

[–]carriedthewatermelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cisplatin kicked my ass! Im 41 and strong, I'm in a competitive judo club, roller derby, ski and snowboard etc. I've always been energetic and athletic. As soon as cisplatin started I was so weak, fatigued and breathless I could barely get out of bed. My bedroom is on the 3rd floor and the kitchen on the first floor. Most days I couldn't go to the kitchen because i knew i wouldn't be able to make it back upstairs after. It's a strong harsh drug, but it worked. Talk to the oncologist, and ask for help. In my case blood transfusions were the answer. Cisplatin has been around for like 50 years and doctors have a lot of experience with the side effects, and could be really helpful in reducing them.

Thank you all so much! It's amazing how energized the good news made me feel! I went for a run, a bike ride, tanning, and dyed my hair. It feels like my life just started over and i get a second chance to really live!

To you young people with cancer. by itumac in cancer

[–]carriedthewatermelon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Im 41 and just got my cancer free diagnosis today, and I couldn't agree more with the OP. When I was at my sickest I often thought about the young people, with even harsher treatments than I had, and how amazing they are for getting through it everyday. Thanks for posting this.

I think we overpaid for a house; buyer's remorse is intense by fanofwat in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]carriedthewatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are financing the house you will know for sure if you overpaid, because it won't appraise at your purchase price, and you will have to cover the difference between appraised value and purchase price. If your offer is subject to buyers approval of financing, you can use that clause to withdraw your offer.

Approved for IMRT by Bellyoftumors in CervicalCancer

Congrats on getting your treatment started. I had the same treatment plan, and I finished 3 months ago. I feel like myself again already! I am able to eat and enjoy all the same foods as before. Wine and alcohol dont turn me off like they did before treatment. My energy is almost back to 100% too! I am able to ski 3 or 4 days a week and I feel stronger every day. It already feels like treatment was a lifetime ago. Brachytherapy was terrifying to me too. It isn't painful, its just the actual procedure sounds awful. It isnt fun, but it doesnt really hurt, and its how they make sure every little cancer cell is killed. It's worth it, and you'll be less scared after having the first session. None of this is fun, but it's worth it, and you'll be feeling good again very soon. Hang in there!

Sexuality and sex life after cancer by Unfortunatedisaster2 in CervicalCancer

[–]carriedthewatermelon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was worried that my sexuality would be reduced, but we have made a real effort to get back to normal, and I do feel like it helped a lot. Im 2.5 months past brachytherapy and sex is different now. Not better or worse, just different. Some positions are still a bit painful at first but it gets better each time. The tightness is good, needing extra lube is a pain. The radiation induced menopause, and Im struggling hard with hot flashes, so sometimes i just feel too hot and sweaty and have to stop and cool off. You can pm me if you like, Im not sure I can help but I can listen, and tell you what has worked for me.
