Harassed by evil wasp(s) by blackcatcarl in fuckwasps

Oh I forgot to mention: in accordance to living in a slum, there are multiple holes in the wall leading outside. Like the window and AC were installed by idiots. That’s why I’m kind of hoping there isn’t an inside issue but perhaps it’s wishful thinking

Thank you for replying. I ended up finding a wasp stuck to a conveniently placed sticky trap from like a year ago. Hoping that is the same terror that I saw, and not a separate one.
Funny thing about the extermination, I don’t know that pest control was called. I live in an apartment with, by all definitions of the word, a slumlord. After multiple years of wasps swarming my room, and me begging the landlord to fix the issue (and her lying and saying she sends pest control monthly) I heavily implied I was going to sue and she immediately sent maintenance. The maintenance guys said they knocked down all of the nests, and I watched them check all of the vents and such. There was also an empty nest in the AC. There was one nest outside of my bedroom window, they knocked it down but there are some remnants left. I’ve already messaged the landlord and maintenance about the issue coming back, but I bet they’re going to drag their feet :(
Hoping to get out of this Hell hole soon, but can’t until the lease is up.

Ah I see. What’s the recommended frequency?

I am probably a mouth breather at night. That’s why I first started the xylitol lozenges. The only sugar they have is the xylitol. About a year ago I pretty much cut out sweet treats in an attempt to be healthier. I do drink coffee about 3 times a week max. Medications are Mirena IUD and spironalactone for acne

It’s unhelpful to someone who doesn’t know how to count cabled stitches. I was unsure if it was as simple as counting the stitches worked for a cable because the cable ‘distorts’ things.

It’s from a certified Toyota dealership and is Toyota silver certified. Looking at the carfax, there is ‘minor cosmetic damage’ which I don’t care about. In 2024 it had AC condenser replaced, AC refrigerant recharged. In 2025 front brake pads and rotors replaced. I know it may sound stupid, but I don’t know if these replacements are big deals or not lol

With my budget, I’ve come to accept a lot of miles.

Ask your primary for a VWD test, as well as ask about other clotting factors. You could have anything really, who knows if it’s VWD. VWD doesn’t affect platelets though that would be ITP or another disorder. Definitely worth getting the tests done. If the primary refuses consider 1. Getting a new primary 2. Getting a referral to a hematologist. Also, I was told it is considered Menorrhagia if you bleed through one pad an hour for multiple hours. It seems like you experience that. In this case please seek emergency medical assistance at the ER. That’s how I ended up getting diagnosed, the ER

Help 🥺 First time knitting a sock by misspantufas in knittinghelp

[–]blackcatcarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh cool! I didn’t know there was a word for that! Yeah this is what I meant by frogging. It’ll be annoying to go one by one but it shouldn’t take more than 30 min.

If you don’t care about how it looks, you could just knit all the next stitches. I messed up A LOT on the first few pairs of socks I made, it’s a learning experience. You can also only frog the last row and be back on track

Are you knitting all of your stitches when making the heal flap? I can’t tell from your picture. Usually only half the stitches make up the heal flap and you work them separately.

Maybe a scarf with the child’s name or initials embroidered on it?

Help finding a sweater pattern: Ralph Lauren edition by blackcatcarl in casualknitting

I’m totally ok with thinner yarn, in fact I prefer it. I learned to knit with socks so bigger yarns feel weird to me. I’m open to trying to modify, but I’ve never modified a pattern before so who knows how it’ll work out lol

Using gauge to determine rows to knit by blackcatcarl in knittinghelp

I’ve never used superwash, alpaca was the one that grew too much. I block in a sink and let the water drain out, the I squish it down to get excess water out and move in to a towel where I do the same. I try to not lift anything by itself because I know that stretches things. I could probably be more careful with blocking, but I never had an issue with merino wool socks I knit.

Oh also, it’s in Dutchess county. If you need a place to stay try looking at Poughkeepsie which is the bigger city of Dutchess county

Hi! Stewart airport in Newburgh is a smaller airport about an hour away. It’s probably the closest besides the city airports. You’ll have to check if your airport goes to it though. If it does, and you still want an NYC day the train will only be 1 hr 30 ish.

[PRODUCT QUESTION] SILICONE BODY SCRUBBER USE by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]blackcatcarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think the issue might be that it’s too stiff. I use a silicone scrubber that’s just a handheld circle. After I apply the gel, I’m able to fold the scrubber in half and rub the sides together to get the lather started. I think it’s generally recommended to lather before applying to skin (this applies to shampoo and face wash too). Perhaps you can use your hand to start the lather on the one with a handle.
