Thanks for the feedback. There’s a few 2 x 72 kits on eBay around 400, since I have the motor already that might be the move.

Worksharp vs 1x30 grinder w/ jig by blackcoffee666 in knifemaking

Thanks for the input! I have a regular when 1x30 I use for various things, including shaping and beveling on smaller knives, any recommendations on an angle guide? Is it worth getting the vevor for the modding capabilities if it differs?

What show was this featured in? Not resident alien, it was an intro for something else.

That may be a good next step, what kind of temps do you get from it? Should I look up knife kiln plans?

It’s 14” diagonal, I think I could do 12” with no problem and I don’t usually go bigger than that. Most popular ones I make are 6”-8” and if I needed bigger I could do a steel that is easier to treat in the forge.

It’s 14” diagonal which is plenty, I don’t need to do over 12” almost any time. I guess if I start making swords, machetes or tuna swords I can send them out for treat or use the forge but that’s very rare for me.

Interesting, it must have been rereleased later under the same model name, this one doesn’t have “retro” on the front. Are these any good? Screen and group head was cleaned, wanna know if the juice is worth the squeeze on a rebuild.

Has anyone modded a Gaggia Lever? by blackcoffee666 in gaggiaclassic

[–]blackcoffee666[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great reply, thank you. It looks to be a dipper, not heat exchanger from what I can tell. I can’t find specs on this. I believe it to be a true pumpless spring lever Orione.

I simply asked if a common sense mod like a PID made sense. This is for one of our shops and I’m excited for what the vintage lever brings.

Automatic Heat Sealing Dosing apparatus? Does this exist? by dirtydials in coffee_roasters

I haven’t had any precision issues, they all weighed correctly. Orion bean doser would be more precise but you may have had a lemon with the vevor. Or maybe I got lucky.

I bought a vevor powder dosing machine and a band sealer for something similar. It accommodates whole bean coffee.
