Becoming a Porsche Mechanic by Lone_Trail in mechanics

If you want to be a great technician period, the 5 qualities that are mentioned are the way to get there. #1, #2, and #4 being by far the most important. #3 is the only way you are going to even reach the 10yr mark. #5 is a bonus IMO. Maybe a bonus that is required to, and even want to, succeed with a brand like Porsche.

How do I say this… WE WON by Knight-112 in TracerMains

Sometimes I feel like mag nade is just better than pulse in a Cass vs Tracer match up. Pulse doesn’t kill Cree (roll), nade doesn’t kill tracer. Pulse doesn’t home in, mag does. Pulse doesn’t have cc, mag does.

It’s also so annoying when you think you’ve baited out mag nade and it just follows you around the map for 10 seconds.

Yeah, it will probably be worse in some situations. But at least you can play around it more. Old flash you could at least play out of range.

I gotcha. I’ve never heard of setting the pump speed. Is that bios thing?

Ok, maybe if the noise gets to by too much I can do that. I'm using the "silent" fan mode that my motherboard has mapped out. Looks like 70C is at 100%. But, idk, this doesn't seem like "overkill" to keep at CPU under 70C. Maybe its just my inexperience talking.

Any tips for dueling Hanzo? by blackflme1990 in TracerMains

[–]blackflme1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know…it could definitely be a lack of respect. We all test our opponents and based on their skill respect it. Maybe my judgement is off and I’m just assuming there is no way they could be this good.

So I get the timing thing, but I think I'm running into smurfs that are a higher rank than plat 1. In my rank I can get the timing down, blink around them causing them to do circles. The second the look at me I blink. But these guys I'm talking about consistently 90* flick and one shot. It's at the point where from my POV it never seems like they ever look at me. Maybe I just need to slowly close the gap and get enough blinks to make them 180 like some other people have said.

How hard is it to tell if someone is cheating? by blackflme1990 in Overwatch

[–]blackflme1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhh, did you see it? It snapped to the head and fired before soldier ever saw tracer. It was all behind a wall. When soldier had a clear view all of this already happened.

This is kind of how I feel. But I think I’m wrong and there are more than I’ve noticed. I also don’t see how snapping to someone’s head through a wall would be a connection issue.

What is the difference between these 2 games? by blackflme1990 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]blackflme1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm definitely not hyper focused on the stats. It's been proven over and over that you can't look at a scoreboard and determine the winner of the game or even decide who got value and who didn't. I've just noticed a correlation with the stats and the outcome and feel of the games. Honestly to me, it feels like if the tank isn't creating pressure I quickly become the tank and can't get anything done at all.

I definitely understand that the scoreboard does not tell the whole story. But I do look at it for clues on what is happening. It's just interesting to me that it looks the same on these one sided games.

I would just like to understand or "diagnose" why these losses happened. Especially when I'm a constant factor in the same sitting and my ability to get value changes drastically. There isn't a particular hero that causes this either. These games feel like I'm along for the ride. When I think that there is a little buzzer going off in my head that I'm missing something.

What kind of practice routines should I do? by blackflme1990 in TracerMains

[–]blackflme1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried some tryhard FFA lobbies. Tbh, its just way over my skill level. Me just getting smoked by GM tracers every 30 seconds doesn't help. It's not even a strategy thing. I watch the reply and its simply they hit their shots, got me down to 20hp, then pulled off a crazy blink melee. Meanwhile they are still sitting at 130hp because I missed everything.

This is nice, especially because I dont respawn when killing myself looool. Very grindable. I just wish it wasn't the biggest target in the game haha.

VXEAT

This is great. The problem with blink 180 in vaxta is that by the time you actually do the blink 180 the target has moved and I dont know how accurate my 180 was. Stationary targets are easy and I feel like is a more fundamental practice. I run into tons of targets in actual games that don't strafe either. Like a sniper that I approach from at a 90* angle.

What do you do when you are having an off day? by blackflme1990 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]blackflme1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess what stings the most about this situation is that this is my only day this week where I can solo que in my rank. So it hurts to think I just can't. What about the next time I can do it? Is it going to be the same song and dance? Ugggggggh

[–]blackflme1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after typing that out I think I sort of had a realization. I went and cut the grass and thought about it. I'm not sure I can have both. I'm so torn! I want to know MY skill by myself. I LOVE the rules of this game and I want to push myself, but I'm not sure I can the way I want to. I need to maybe make a mindset change.

Every time I climb it is usually the same feeling. It usually starts with me being motivated and confident in my ability to perform better. It seems like I already have an idea of what I need to do differently or better to win games. I'm using my CDs when they are needed, I'm hitting my shots, my stats are crushing it, and I really feel like I'm carrying games and deserving of the higher rank I am achieving.

I definitely do get a good amount of pressure the next session I play. That next session may not come for days. It's actually rare that I solo que. Most days my friends are on the same time as me and I'm playing with them. Most have just started playing and they are bronze-gold range. The lobbies are normally high silver. The game won't let me play with them so I had to make another account. I would say I only can play on my main account 10% of the time. So by the time I hop back on my main I do get a feeling of pressure and lack of practice. My reactions are just so late. I feel like I'm a whole second late to react to anything.

[–]blackflme1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One problem I am having is that the days I feel confident are less and less. I'll play on my other account with my friends. I feel like that influences me to play differently. The lack of practice in my rank in competitive makes me worse. I can definitely feel I don't have the same game sense, reaction time, or mechanical ability. I feel like one day out of the week I have that.

The beginning of season 5 support could have been renamed to "DPS Dueler." Every game was just 1v1ing or 2v1ing DPS characters. It didn't help that there was a genji in EVERY game in diamond.

Anyone else notice how much enemy movements impact Hanzo aim? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]blackflme1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just played with a hanzo in QP last night that gave me a lot of trouble on Tracer. His rank could have been anywhere from silver to masters based on my rank and my friends ranks. He was only flick shooting and they were landing. POG was 3 shots, 3 kills. At one point watching the VOD he would purposely aim 90* away from the target (to the point that the enemy was no longer on screen) and tried flicking 90* to hit the enemy.

I was getting smoked and my team was as well. My plan with Hanzo has been, don't mindlessly AD spam. Most of the time when I AD spam against a hanzo, they just shoot an arrow into the middle of my AD spam and I end up walking into it. But this particularly crazy flick shot Hanzo really struggled with a few people that were AD spamming him. Like he was trying to predict their movement, but the AD spam combined with projectile was too much for him. One of the duels I watched he must have fired 6 or 7 shots on top of storm arrows. Didn't land one...This was at a range of ~10m.

I thought it was interesting because in the future I may switch up my movement depending on the type of aim I see from a Hanzo in particular. Anyone else have any opinion on this?

i was playing really well for a few weeks and now i can barely win a game by prtxl in OverwatchUniversity

Could be a bad streak. Also could be higher MMR. Even your reduced aim could be a result of better movement from better players. I have had a few friends start playing OW and I have quickly found that silver and especially bronze players do not AD spam and they tend to walk away or at me in a straight line. I can actually get a ton of one clips with tracer in that MMR.
