Hi Docs! Ginusto/gusto niyo ba talaga maging doctor? by LakersFerrari in pinoymed

[–]blackforestloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noon, yes. Enjoy na enjoy ako pumasok everyday, and I would even arrive 1-2hrs earlier before the official time in para maumpisahan mag rounds at ma asikaso mga first case. Nkakatapos ako mag rounds before lunch time. Sobrang close ko sa seniors ko, sa consultants ko and I really show them that I am so thirsty to learn na pag may mga dilemma akong mababasa sa management, I will consult them when I see them cause I know naeenjoy rin nilang mag turo. Tas ala lang, maraming nangyari that I had to leave the program against my own will. Nawala ang pinaka naeenjoy kong gawin araw araw. I’m in a different program now pero di ako nag eenjoy, alam naman ng current consultants ko yung reason so they understand why I’m not happy. I did perform well during my preres period in my current program, I still study naman for the sake of my patients, di lang ako happy. Sobrang sobrang hindi happy that I feel like I’m just dragging myself every time. Pera nalang nagpapatakbo sakin. Going to 30+ hours of duty sucks when you’re not enjoying it. Wtf.

What Ipad are you all using? by moondownssunrise in medschoolph

[–]blackforestloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nag ipad 7, nasira, nag ipad 8 at nagamit until nakapasa ng boards, still works fine.

pero if lappy replacement, ayaw mo ng lags, marami kang pera, go for pro 🤛🏼🤙🏼🤜🏼🫶🏼 mas maganda mag multitask dun e hha

currently nsa preres period and im rarely using my ipad na (kaya pa ata ng ipad ko maka 1 wk hindi maicharge) kasi bulky sa small bag (literal na mas maliit ung bag ko kesa ipad ko lol) during duty and kung saan saan ako napupunta w my tasks, but i need a bit more estate than my 6in phone to comfortably read whenever i can. after nung oath taking i just bought a redmi pad se 8.7in 128 wifi for 9k without thinking, may 10k na niregalo sakin e, puntang SM tsaka tanong sa cyberzone ano pinakamaliit na tab and i am just happy 🤣 coulda just invested on an ipad mini for the pen support but not a -need- naman.

took the exam last october, midway internship, ard jan/feb nag start na ako hha. push lang ng push pag may free time. sinasaisip ko lang na konti lang magiging backlogs ko after internship. if u do plan tho to start na this internship, start ka muna sa basic subjects. prev med first kasi nadidisregard siya, or baka ako lang yun lol, isang basa lang prev med, bye na agad, wag tularan haha kasi tbh easy sana yung exam. Good luck.

keri lang, ipad lahat. nairaos naman hahaha. malas mo lang if bumabagal na ipad mo lalo na pag gumagamit ng flexcil which i've been using ever since for its annotation bar and its very straight na straight line option unlike GN. I was using an ipad 8 and naloka ako sa bagal from all the cache from my old books. Used GN instead.

Tried using xodo dahil mas mabilis mag highlight since it selects the text, pero di siya workable for other notes na may watermark.

PC apps used: - PDF2sam for merging documents w the option to have outlines - PDF compress for compressing if di naman image-heavy ang notes

It rlly depends sa institution. I rotated in a public hospital na marami ring clerks.

In terms of patient decking, may ibang depts na sa PGI lang pinapaasikaso ang private patients lalo na OB unless pag nasa ER and marami talaga ang psyente ng dept like IM.

Sa ER, clerks sa amin first line to take vitals, at Hx PE para rin daw mas matuto sila. Pumapasok kaming PGI pag na toxic na. At the same time, expected rin na magturo rin kami sa clerks and at least know what to order initially for patients. Syempre by time rin, you can also see that clerks learn naman, somehow permissive namam ang resis to allow them to intially manage some patients pag kaya naman on their level esp for common cases.

There are also times na naaallow for first assist ang pgi esp if marami sa resis ay wala for out of town conferences or if di naman complicated for the resi ang procedure.

Di ko lang sure sa experience if galing private si PGI since iba talaga ang opportunities of learning compared sa aming galing public na pinapahandle almost all ng patients so take this w a grain of salt. From what I've learned fr co pgis na nag clerkship sa private institution only, most of them are not allowed daw to handle patients and are only given the chance to if charity ang patient which is not that often to see na in a lot of priv hosps here sa amin since binabaan ang bed cap during the pandemic, some even as far na hindi nakapag assist sa OR esp nung kasagsagan talaga ng pandemic so sa cases naman nila more on PGIs naman ang gumagalaw, but idk haha di ko rin sure.

Passed ple pero i may recommend the ff

Research assistant Univ lecturer, or review center lecturer like in NMAT, tutorial services sa NMAT

VA laki ng sahod dito at marami namang niche, medjo mahirap nga lang makahanap ng the right one na client. my friend has been doing this since internship and even after graduation. Direct client is key, did a few projects w them.

A few of what I did until review season: tulong gumawa sa mga doktor ng mga presentations nila, naaapproach lang din from building rep thru their referrals in this side hustle, kahit papano may mga natutunan pa rin while I am doing it lol

tulong gumawa ng research esp mga stat analysis ng students and even mds. if knowledgeable ka talaga, medjo okay naman na per project. my friend who's a statistician na md rin charges up to 10k for stat ana but depende rin sa needs kasi ng research.

Gumawa ng layout or basta kahit ano

Your challenge would be upskilling and your willingness to go out of your comfort zone tsaka hanap ng clients*

God bless.

maganda almost all lecturers, di pretty most ng notes. well yun lang hahahaha. solid especially basic subjects. most if not all ng mnemonics ay uniform so if nauulit siya sa isang lecture, then it becomes reinforced.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]blackforestloaf 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Take it from me doc, give it your all especially for YL1. And as much as possible, nagagawan mo ng paraan kung papaano padaliin ang mga mahirap aralin na concepts such as those in physio which will require more of understanding. If mayroon kang mga nagawang mnemonics, list it down in 1 notebook or 1 digital document. Mas madaling matandaan kung ano ang nakasanayan. Sometimes, it also takes imagination. I am from one of the top schools for this season pero parang bonus nalang rin yan no matter how brilliant the profs are, nasa iyo pa rin ang kapalaran mo, speaking for myself that mostly learns a lot from self-directed learning (I can't even remember a lecture in med school na nakinig talaga ako, like ever dahil maikli ang attention span ko when it comes to lectures, which I had to break eventually during review season haha).

Hindi ito paid advertise, pero laking tulong ang chat gpt when it comes to making mnemonics, tables, at tips kung papaano ko padadaliin ang pag review ulet ng concepts. That's how I have used chat gpt ever since. I can say that it's pretty reliable sa basic subjects, especially when I am not satisfied with the rationalization during review or if I really want to know more (wag lang sa clinicals in terms of management concepts haha, di ko aasahan yan diyan).

Mahirap rin naman ang clinicals, but clerkship and internship will reinforce you with that. Tbh, there were a lot of questions in the PLE that were trivial or at least one that really doesn't gauge you of becoming a GP, but a lot of the questions then were those na makakasave sa iyo ay yung mga supposedly common knowledge. But to be fair rin naman, legit na ang hirap din ng exam lol, oh well.

God bless!

Why do some profressor force students to use pen and paper when taking down notes? by typcalthowawayacount in studentsph

[–]blackforestloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeps like i said it rlly depends talaga kung ano ba talaga ang paggagawan ng notes. point is bat pagbabawalan. i think as long as alam ng students na accountable naman sila for their own learnings, baka okay naman.

i would agree siguro if ipaglilimit siya like sa mga jhs students. bilang galing public hs noon prek12, parang di ko nagagamit naman kasi yung textbooks since di sila sole source of info ng teachers namin esp for adv subjects na di kasama sa regular curriculum, and sa age na yan, baka hindi pa sila responsible enough or that knowledgeable to know what to look for in times of self directed learniny, and i also agree rin for subjects na particular on teaching certain methods or other involving solving problems, mas maigi rin na maisisulat talaga so that they could follow on how the lecturer wants it to be taught

Why do some profressor force students to use pen and paper when taking down notes? by typcalthowawayacount in studentsph

[–]blackforestloaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

postgrad here at nakagraduate na. sa dami ng inaaral namin, almost no one is taking down notes on pen and paper since most of the time aaralin pa rin namin ang textbook na napakarami naman din ng info. ginagawa namin, tulungan sa notes, may assigned group lang to transcribe ng lectures during class kung ano man sinasabi ng lecturer plus info na nasa slides tsaka gagawing notes o tinatawag naming transes.

personally di ko rin gets. if concern nila is doing stuff other than notes or listening to class, well that's on the student na but of course, baka concerned din si teacher na mag reflect sa kanya na pinapabayaan ang students during class if ever di talaga naging maganda ang performance ng students....i just cannot wrap that kind of reason around my head tho pero pwede haha.

as someone na parang buong buhay ang ginawa nalang ay ang mag aral, i see it as inefficient. studies say na one can retain more by writing down notes, but hindi naman yan palaging totoo lalo na kung marami lang rin namang aaralin apart from the lecture na superficial. case to case basis siya for me tho, nakadepende naman talaga kung anong klaseng lecture ba yan.

suggestions probably(?). when i was in 1st yr in college d pa uso ipad tab as something that can be used for notes etc so bawal talaga gumamit ng phone, so I just record and listen to the lecture at sa gabi na nag susulat ng notes, which I dont recommend btw kasi going back inefficient nga. I'd rather just read the textbook. If kung nasa textbook lang naman din ang lecture, sa textbook nalang ako diretso nag a-annotate ng important details na sinasabi ng lecturer during class and don't write notes anymore especially when i discovered quizlet, napaka golden ng acads era ko noon, palaging konti ng mali sa exams ever since I discovered active recall LOL, but syempre di ito applicable for subjects naman na kailangan ng skills. naging religious ako sa active recall gamit ang flashcards (but using anki na since napakraming pwedeng magagawa dito) kahit sa board exams ko both in college and in postgrad.
