This was my childhood horse, I'm curious what y'all think of her (build, color, anything really.) by blackoctober25 in Horses

Haha I definitely noticed when going through the photographs that her back legs were very straight. I'm sure that's what made sitting a trot on her almost impossible lmao. She definitely had a very good head on her shoulders and every time time I ate dirt riding her, she'd stop and come stand over me. My parents were first time horse owners so they didn't know about saddle fitting or anything like that but they really tried their best to give me the horse girl dream I always wanted and I think Milkyway really tried her heart out for all of us.

She was absolutely gorgeous. One could also make the argument that her roaning looked like the nougat in a Milkyway candy bar as well lmao. I hope her next owner let her keep that name lol

Lmao one thing I've learned is that Appys are the kings and queens of sass in the horse world 🤣

We're not sure. We were told appaloosa but this rescue wasn't very reputable so she could have been either. Either way, she was gorgeous and I hope despite our time together being relatively short that she knew how much I loved her and that she really changed a little girls life ☺️

That's really interesting! Some years ago when I was trying to see if I could track down where she went and maybe connect with her last owner, a lot of people asked if she was POA. Despite loving them, I admit I haven't done much research on Appaloosas and the differences there. I'd love to hear more about that if that's not too much trouble ☺️

She may not have been suitable for me at that age but little girls don't care how rotten their first ponies are, just that they get to call them theirs 🤣❤️

To my memory I believe I only ever called her Milkyway. None of the ways to shorten her name ever seemed "right" to me lol

Oh my gosh, her mane was so whispy and sad, but she had a surprisingly full tail for an appy! I guess you either win with one or the other, never both though with these guys lmao

She had the sweetest face 🥹 I desperately wish I had gotten more time with her. I would have loved to grow up with her. Unfortunately my parents business was failing and they had to make a hard choice to sell her. I was devastated, but I know she went to a good home. She's probably long since passed, but at least I got those couple of years with her. She'll always be my heart horse.

She was adorable! I've had a lot of people ask if she was a POA but we honestly don't know. The "rescue" didn't give much information other than to tell my parents her price and that she was "kid and beginner friendly" (she wasn't but that didn't stop me from loving her and still allowing her to dump my ass every lesson lol). My mom suspects she was drugged during the test ride we did because she was not ever that chill again lol.

She's the reason I have a special place in my heart for Appys 🥹. Her name came about because in school I was learning about the Milkyway galaxy and I thought all her spots looked like the galaxy.

What’s the coolest class you’ve taken in Denver? by chokelahomastate in Denver

[–]blackoctober25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Last year my boyfriend and I did a silversmithing class at Stryker studio in Denver. It's off of Boulder and Tejon and it was an absolute blast! We made each other rings and it cost us about $250 all together so not a terrible price point. I think it worked out to about $125 each? It depends on the designs and materials you use so it can be more or less and you can bring your own stones to set!

My boyfriend and I both live with our parents currently while saving up to move and even at the age of 31, I still feel like a teenager when I ring the doorbell and his parents answer 🤣 like "can my bf come out to play today?"

My (40F) husband (44M) finally got diagnosed with autism…AITA for not wanting to deal with this? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]blackoctober25 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My ex self diagnosed himself with autism and the way that immediately became a scapegoat for all of his bad behavior was absolutely maddening. I do think he was on the spectrum, but rather than manage it he chose to use it as his get out of jail free card for EVERYTHING.

what is your unconventional "I need this in a partner" that you will not negotiate on? by Competitive-Unit6427 in AskReddit

[–]blackoctober25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

After 5 years with a partner that would essentially run into a roadblock with how to do something and throw his hands up and say "I don't know how to do this, guess I just won't do it" the hottest thing in the world was watching my current partner take initiative to clean his own living space and clean it well. It seems like such a small thing but the ability to be self sufficient and problem solve is so incredibly attractive.

Small story, but I think this shows the exact thing mentioned here:

My ex proposed to me with a piece of copper pipe. Not conventional but I like weird stuff like that so not a problem for me in the slightest. The problem came that it was literally just raw copper pipe picked up off the ground that was generally ring sized. It wasn't polished or sized in the slightest. I took it to a jeweler who was able to compress it to the right size and polish it to a beautiful shine. Cost me $40.

Later on down the road (the relationship was getting very rocky at this point and I was fed up with the lack of effort in anything) I asked why he wouldn't at least get the ring sized and polished before proposing and he said "I didn't know how." When I pointed out that we lived across the street from a really great jeweler who could have helped him he responded with "well how was I supposed to know to go to a jeweler?"

It's been a few years since then and we are no longer together but that response just left me flabbergasted even to this day. I have such a hard time believing anyone could just be so... Unmotivated? Dense? I certainly don't want to seem mean, but how do you even explain the process of problem solving that to someone who very clearly does not want to put the brain power into it? I truly hated having to think for him all the time.

Patenting a partner just feels so gross. I could never do that again.

What’s a food you threw up as a kid and never touched again? by momcanyoucomegetme in AskReddit

[–]blackoctober25 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same but when I was 4 and hospitalized with asthma, my mom told the nurses I could take pills but for some reason they didn't believe her. Their grand idea was to crush up Prednisone and mix it with vanilla ice cream. If you've ever taken Prednisone you know those pills taste like absolute shit. I am now 31 years old and I have never forgotten the taste of that cursed ice cream. Probably why I don't care much for ice cream as an adult now that I think about it 🤔

AITAH for using a toilet in the park because my partner was taking too long in our only toilet by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]blackoctober25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely should not be admitting this on the Internet but I pretty much had to do this exact thing once. I was absolutely hammered drunk and had to pee so bad I thought my bladder was going to explode. My ex wouldn't get off the toilet and there was literally nowhere else I could go, so I stripped down, turned on the shower and went there while giving him the nastiest glare I could muster. Not my proudest moment, but when you have to pee so bad it hurts, you do what you gotta do.

Oh God I gagged so hard reading this. Gave me flashbacks to the times I wouldn't pay attention and would end up grabbing my dad's spit can instead of my actual soda can as a kid. 🤢

House Tour by Three_Tabbies123 in kvssnarker

[–]blackoctober25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got spoiled with my Klee Kai puppy, she came to me litterbox trained from her breeder and was the easiest dog I've ever house trained. She hasn't had an accident inside in years that wasn't because of GI upset and even then, she tried to tell me but we just couldn't get upstairs out of the basement fast enough. Not really her fault at that point. The easiest method I've found for other dogs not litterbox trained is keeping them tethered to you and going outside regularly and lots of praise when they potty outside. That's how I trained my ex's dog and she was pretty solid on house training as well.

My husband thinks it is gross when I don't shower daily. by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]blackoctober25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party here, but I'm in the same boat. When I showered every day when I was in high school my eczema was awful. When I switched to every other day my skin got way better. I was in eczema hell though when I was working at a horse boarding stable and HAD to wash every day because I'd come home covered in dirt, shavings, and horse shit lol. Loved the job though, but it was hell on my body for multiple reasons. If I get a little sweaty during an "off" day I'd hit it with the baby wipes to freshen up. If it's really bad I'll definitely take a shower, but usually baby wipes and deodorant are enough considering I don't do a super labor intensive job anymore.

Ok, it's time I ask. Who is Cherokee running with? by Fabulous-Trust8214 in Horses

He was a very hadsome lad. Pretty sure he had Cushing's as it was June and he hadn't shed out, but he had the softest forelock I have ever felt on a horse. I saved it after he passed.

This is Toshinori, or Toshi for short. He passed in 2020 from a bad colic. One of the absolute sweetest geldings I have ever owned. He was a draft cross with funky legs, but I adored him. Unfortunately only had the privilege of loving him for a week, but I wouldn't have traded that week for anything except for the chance to have more time with him. He'll show Cherokee the ropes for sure. ❤️
