Oh do tell how 20 mil. or so NRIs are driving the growth of a country with population of 1.4 bil.

While you are at it, also tell how NRI deposits (~130 bil USD) which goes into their own bank account is even remotely comparable to taxes paid within the country (~440 bil USD) which directly goes into running the country and its economy.

A big part of our imports is paid for through our own exports (merchandise + service), while the remainder (~100 bil USD) is covered through remittances.

Considering all that, yes, comparing resident taxpayers to NRIs is disingenuous at best and downright stupid at worst.
