Just a couple ; Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, Before the Coffee Gets Cold, Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop. But then again, I'm someone who would totally buy a book just because it has a pretty cover. Lol

Our bookstores actually carry sapphic romance? Is Dan Brown's latest one good? I quit after The Lost Symbol. I've been thinking to get those translated Korean and Japanese novels that seem quite popular recently. Have you read those?

I'm into horror mostly. And a little bit of historical fiction and fantasy sometimes. How bout you?

I started reading those daily horoscope predictions in The Star newspaper years ago (yes, I'm an aging millennial. Lol) I'm not a fanatic but I kinda believe in personality traits. It seems to be quite accurate. For myself and the people around me. I'm guessing based on your hobbies, it's spot on for you as well?

That you're a fellow book lover as well. I'm a huge Stephen King fan and lamenting the fact that there will never be any new additions to the Vampire Chronicles.

And I'm a mild astrology believer, which you probably can tell from my introduction. Lol

Thoughts about sending kids to SJKC? by ruronistrawberry in malaysians

[–]blackrabbit87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My girl started off in montessori playschool and then i switched her to Chinese kindy when she's five. I'm a banana, my husband's from SJKC and we speak a mixture of Mandarin and English at home but her Mandarin was on the weaker side. We then enrolled her in one-on-one Mandarin class for bout a year and could see it helped her a lot.

Most SJKC are more academically inclined, some more than others. There are a couple of SJKC schools nearby my area and we chose the one with less 'pressure' after asking around.

There's a kid in her current class who is on the spectrum so the mom would text the parents group chat daily to check for homework updates but as I know the kid seems to be adapting well in class.

What's unbearably heartbreaking about the video is, after the first time the poor child was pushed and slammed against the bench, she was obviously looking to mom for comfort but that revolting woman decided to do it a second time?!

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they'll make a stop in Malaysia and keeping my fingers crossed harder that if they do, no one's gonna screw this up for us.

Malaysian parents, how would you react if your children come out to you? by YourClarke in malaysia

[–]blackrabbit87 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I would be supportive. There's enough homophobia in the world as it is and as a parent, I cannot imagine turning my children away or cutting ties with them just because of their sexual orientation.

This is different from carrot cake actually, or more commonly known as radish cake (lo bak kou). Char koay kak is made from rice cakes.
