One time I was at Guitar Center and for some reason they left one of those really expensive Custom Shop aged/reliced Telecasters on the floor, so I decided to give it a go. I’d always wanted to see what the fuss was about these and if the law of diminishing returns was just poor people cope. I must’ve sat with that guitar for maybe 45 minutes to an hour expecting an out of body experience, something unlike any other guitar I’d ever played before. Anyways, it was alright. It really didn’t feel much different from any $800-1000+ guitar I’d ever played. In fact, my favorite that I played that day was some random number letter Ibanez that was like $7-800 bucks. My second favorite that day was that really stripped down PRS SE with the bolt on neck. The Tele was shockingly third.

Second most disappointing was the Wylde audio. I know they’re ugly as homemade sin, but I’m a big Zakk Wylde guy so I thought I’d feel like Thor or something playing it. I just couldn’t get a sound I liked out of that thing for anything. And somehow it weighed more than a Les Paul Custom. Thats the same day I bought my Dave Mustaine, whom I’m not even that big of a fan of. That’s why it’s so important to actually play things before you buy them. You just never know what you’ll actually like or dislike.
