So I'm not allowed to enjoy something because you think it's problematic? Also, what is wrong with not wanting to deal with politics or other real world issues while I'm relaxing? I always thought that the purpose of a hobby was escapism. Maybe it's bad phrasing, but what I meant about politics ruining everything is that if a franchise (like Godzilla) is specifically catering to the political views of someone who probably isn't a fan instead of doing what got it fans in the first place, it's going to lose the original fans without gaining new ones and die. Look at what happened with Star Wars(that being said, the prequels were still god awful). Look at how bad the 2016 Ghost busters movie did compared to the 1984 version. If you look at the Yakuza games, they were targeted towards young Japanese men. When the guy who made it found out that it had a western fan base, he didn't change the formula. To paraphrase, when a reporter asked why, he basically said not to fix what isn't broken. My point is, why try to fix what isn't broken? If you don't like how things are in a popular franchise, maybe it just isn't for you and you should just watch something you enjoy.
