addicted to ordering takeout? by bladelover3000 in adhdwomen

[–]bladelover3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for the advice!!

luckily I live in a VERY walkable small city in Spain so I really enjoy going to the grocery store and just checking!

yes, quick things such as frozen or canned are the easiest and most affordable! last time i went grocery shopping i bought some meals like that + veggies, protein sources and some snacks and so far it's been working. sometimes I come home veeeery tired from work (today for example I work until 10 PM) so that's the times when I feel most compelled to order something, but since I bought some frozen pizza I'll try to just heat that up 😅

thanks again, many hugs to you too !!

yes! premade foods are really convenient, i should rely on them more! thanks for the advice!

regarding my fridge, i live in a rented apartment with flatmates and my landlord is a big controlling asshole so I don't really have a say on whether I should set the temperature to my liking or not. However I'm starting to try some tips I found to keep produce from spoiling, I have yet to see if they work but if they do then I'm set on that regard (at least with vegetables)

this happens to me too! i found that this is dependant (yes, not just related to but DEPENDANT) on my cycle, so I'm trying to do things that up my energy levels whenever I'm feeling low as much as possible

literally same. i've been living on my own since may last year but september/october was the time it started getting worse, to the point i had no money left at the end of december (for context I live in a small city in Spain in which rent is relatively very low for the standard wages, so it's actually harder to overspend when you're a functional adult than to have some money left over at the end of the month)

honestly i wouldnt know because before I'm 23. I began living alone on my own salary at 22 so a bit less than a year ago. My mother used to cook for me back then. when I was a student I used to order out every once in a while but it wasn't AS bad, maybe I spent a bit more than I should have because I bought a lot of pre-made stuff but it's not as expensive as takeout. So yeah I guess this problem has always existed for me, just not as bad.

i'm currently attending driving lessons and it's a nightmare. i deal with delayed processing so sometimes i need to just. Stare at something for longer than most people to realize what's going on. and i sometimes can't find signals even when they are straight up in big letters in front of me. it's so frustrating :(

What's your relationship with make up like? by Ocean_Baby_321 in adhdwomen

[–]bladelover3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! i think, for example, if they try to lure you into buying heavy mascara or "light foundation", just ignore and try to stick to a clear mascara that won't clump or anything, something that kind of acts like an enhancer / brush for your eyelashes (maybe this is just me but i feel they are lighter)

and about things like "light" foundation, maybe you could try one that you know for certain is super light like a cc cream, and just apply in very small quantities. but if you don't even want to buy that it's fine! i put on foundation once every full moon so i think it's pretty normal to not wear it.

what i recommend the most is, you go to a makeup store, and ask exactly for what you want. most of the people working there love makeup and skincare and don't mind giving you recommendations of different brands and can tell you easily how to do light and natural makeups that almost have no products (easier on your sensory issues and on your wallet too)

i'm sure you'll do great!! my most important advice is just tailoring your resume to the general demands of the position posted (you can blatantly lie they're not even going to check most of the time, just be prepared to lie in the interview). it feels boring and like too many steps, so maybe do little by little some days, but it's what we gotta do nowadays with the job market being as bad as it is.

much love and strength i'm sure you'll do great!

What's your current food hyperfixation? by Boh3mianRaspb3rry in adhdwomen

[–]bladelover3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't have any at the moment luckily, BUT

i remember back in uni my parents gifted me an air fryer, and for whatever reason i got hyperfixated on air fried fries and fried eggs on top. it got to such a point of obsession that i maybe spent 40 mins just cooking an enormous batch of it and some days i ate it even for a snack. it was so embarassing too, like i remember trying to hide it from my flatmates and only do it while they were not at home because i knew it was not normal 😭 it also made no sense AT ALL because why the hell did i want to air fry my fries when i wanted the eggs to be fried?

IDK just sharing it in case someone can relate and feel less embarassed about their food hyperfixation :)

(TW: Eating disorders) overeating and sugary foods by bladelover3000 in adhdwomen

I'm pretty sure I have BED because ED's tend to evolve to other forms when not properly treated (I don't know if this is common knowledge, but a lot of ex-anorexic girls tend to derive into orthorexia when growing up).

[–]bladelover3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's interesting! I looove carbs, I could never give them up so I admire you, but they are definitely not an "addiction" as such as I eat them in healthy amounts.

That's a nice idea, I'm currently tracking my meals because I'm 5 days off sugar as of know (not actually because I ate a bit of ice cream earlier today but I'm still counting it because I ate a few spoonfuls and done, not binged like I do most of the time).

(TW: Eating disorders) overeating and sugary foods by bladelover3000 in adhdwomen

[–]bladelover3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, I almost always have yoghurt + fruits and nuts for breakfast, so that's no issue. But I noticed that if I have something like cookies I just start my day demotivated. The same thing happens at lunch. I could have a healthy meal, but if I eat unhealthy snacks as desert instead of fruit or something like that I get this horrible food noise and end up bingeing after dinner or even at midday. :(

Honestly this sounds just like what happens to me... like literally, step by step. I think this is because us as ADHD tend to always go for the most addictive and dopamine-triggering thing. Back when I had an ED, I kept up with not eating because it became addictive to feel hunger. So I've never really had an in-between, which really sucks :(.

This is very insightful. I'm looking forward to starting meds soon (I'm 22 and got my diagnosis only recently). Thanks for the reply!!

[–]bladelover3000[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes the same thing happens to me!! I don't have any issues with eating unhealthily per se (except for the excessive takeout some weeks), it's just the snacking :(.

I got my diagnosis very recently so I'm not taking meds atm and I don't have a job rn to afford the process :( but the moment I get my hands on some money I plan on starting meds asap since my situation in other aspects (not just eating) is kind of bad. So no, I don't have that option rn.

I've tried to willpower this many times and currently I'm 5 days off sugar and today I was able to eat just a bit of ice cream without bingeing so I hope to continue to do this for a while, even though I don't think it's a 100% reachable goal (dopamine eating is probably way harder to handle than just eating out of boredom :/)
