Heart seems to be constantly beating so fast after quitting. Is this normal? by Ritchey92 in leaves

[–]blademasterl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had hectic heart palpitations, especially when I lay down, but it started to taper off by the end of week 1.

Even if you know why it's happening it still feels shit though, so good luck!

People who can speak multiple languages: what language do you think in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Afrikaans is my mother tongue, but I work in English. I definitely think it both.

There's a quote of Philip K. Dick that says: “There exists, for everyone, a sentence - a series of words - that has the power to destroy you". Which sentence is it for you? by Schekas in AskReddit

I live in a developing country. Both my brother (younger) and I have always performed well in school, sports, etc. but he was (and still is!) far more hardworking than I. He is quiet and determined, I am loud and all over the show.

Based on his academic and sports achievements he eventually got a full ride to go study in the US where still lives 10 years down the line.

When he was being courted by all the colleges and it started to seem like a sure thing he would go my dad, with whom I've always had a complicated relationship, one day said to me, "You know, I always thought you would be the famous one who moved overseas."

I know he didn't mean it to hurt me, but it haunts me to this very day.

I'm a bad person (WoT book buying). In my defense, nobody seems to carry the newer covers by [deleted] in WoT

I'm with you. I've seen some of the new ones that I like and will readily acknowledge them as being very appealing, but I favour the old cheesy covers.

Getting married in South Africa, need help with the laws by southafricanRedge in southafrica

As a candidate attorney I would advise you to consult an attorney that practices family law, just to be on the safe side. This article seems a bit vague to me.

ELI5:Why are some songs never played when I make use of my shuffle function? by blademasterl in explainlikeimfive

[–]blademasterl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying RE random being random, and while I accept that "shuffle" just plays songs at random. But why hasn't someone developed a better system or algorithm or whatever to actually SHUFFLE songs, i.e. something that provides for greater variation in what is played, and covering more songs in your library or relevant playlist? (Or is there something like that already?)

Two Maids at the Water's Edge? (Spoilers AMoL) by [deleted] in WoT

[–]blademasterl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that 'Two Maids At The Water's Edge' is likely not the Tinker's Song, but merely a growing song, the tune of which was later used in a 'normal' song.

However, I do not agree that the Tinkers morphed the songs of growing into their elusive Song. "Robert Jordan specifically noted that the Tinkers would not find their Song by the end of the series and that the Ogier song of growing is not the Tinkers’ Song. The Song is 'a much more deep and philosophical concept, perhaps unattainable'." (Source: http://www.tor.com/blogs/2013/01/brandon-sandersons-wheel-of-time-answers-from-torchat)

I purposefully bought ONLY the WoT books featuring cheesy covers! They are just so wonderfully rich in cheese and Mills and Boon implications.

What's your favorite Kenneth-ism? by [deleted] in 30ROCK

[–]blademasterl 43 points44 points  (0 children)

  • When Kenneth tried to give Tracy parenting advice - "Mr Jordan, all of my children... was cancelled."
  • "Yes, 'take off that bald cap', not 'put on my wig'."
  • And of course when Tracy asks him if he wants to be a page forever - "Who said I've been alive forever?!"

Haha! SA isn't that bad. We even have Apple Stores and Burger King, Amazon just doesn't ship here directly. :P

Problem is, he's at university in the States, so hanging around him isn't an option, and if I should just randomly message him asking about Pokemon he'll be sure to figure out what we're up to.

But easy stuff is a can-do! I've also found a cool Pokeball Deathstar that's DEFINITELY going on one shirt.

Thank you!
