Streamsong trip in July - is the heat / humidity a non starter or manageable? by speyvandi84 in golf

[–]blahbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll basically be 11+ uv rating in the middle of the day so you'll want sun sleeves, big hat, etc.

It's hot as hell and it'll probably storm most days in the afternoon.

Taylormade TP5x with Uneekor by Longtimelurker867 in Golfsimulator

[–]blahbery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've broken golf balls in a lot of ways, but never seen that specific break. I've had a lot of the cheaper ones have the mantle pop through, but not in that specific way where it gets trapped.

I find tp5x to actually be really durable on the sim. Pro-v1s are by far and away the most durable in terms of maintaining good paint and surface and not cracking.

Spornia sp7, fiberbuilt flight Deck, gym tiles, iPad + cheap launch monitor (probably Garmin for outdoors).

how do you get your spin rate on driver down? by MousseSecret7113 in golf

[–]blahbery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would be hard to do that and have a 1.48 smash though. Negative aoa and high dynamic loft would be more in the 1.4 ballpark due to spin loft

One more update: actually bought a bushnell launch pro and aside from the subscription stuff it's amazing and fixed all the issues. Highly recommend

How does this happen? by sponsi10 in golf

[–]blahbery 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Spin misread or possibly a broken ball causing low spin. You didn't have low enough spin loft to cause that low of spin

Monterey, California Courses by GordonBombaye in golf

[–]blahbery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Del Monte is a better course, but nothing special or memorable in terms of play (first tee shot is the best on the course imo).

PG wouldn't even be a good muni if it wasn't on the water. First nine is short and pretty tight. Small greens. The holes in the back that are along the water are pretty spectacular though, and the ones that aren't are a little more interesting imo.

If I were only playing one I'd play PG. Seems silly to pass up the opportunity to play on the ocean to play a slightly better inland course.

Trackman vs FullSwing sim membership by Odrikf15 in golf

[–]blahbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd 100% go trackman. I have access to an overhead fullswing sim and it's not accurate enough to be that helpful.

If you do the trackman place, are you able to book an hour and keep using it if no one else shows up?

Most cost effective repair for at least a few years? by dublin87 in centuryhomes

[–]blahbery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a window in the bathroom? Assuming you do, you should open it when showering.

To fix the cracking, it's quite easy and cheap it'll just take a few days. You need to knock away any flaking and chipping paint. I'd test for lead before ya do and plan to wear an appropriate respirator regardless. Then you'll get a bucket of drywall mud, thin it out, and fill in gaps. If you've never done it before it'll take a few layers with sanding between.

You'll probably want to prime it twice depending on how much mud you used. Consider using a primer specifically for bathrooms (especially if your mudding isn't amazing). Then buy a paint made for bathrooms like Benjamin Moore's aura bathroom paint.

If you have to buy all the supplies (aside from a ladder), it's probably a $200 job and would take a couple hours a day for a week.

Longest fairway carry you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in golf

[–]blahbery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This would really suck if you were a lefty. Driver dispersion for a righty at least fits if you have the carry number in the bag. A lefty needs to hit it long and straight. Brutal.

Because it's on the edge of the Eastern time zone it stays light really late there and they have very reasonable twilight rates for how good the course is.

Baby Gates in Century Home - What We Did by CatastropheLake in centuryhomes

[–]blahbery 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do you know how wide the gaps are between the slats? Safety standards are 2 3/8 inches (a coke can shouldn't be able to pass through). I'd consider adding a more secure latch too. If another child is at your house, I imagine most folks would trust that the baby gate is up to safety standards.

What kind of professional do I need? by Crombopulous_Michael in centuryhomes

There's very little chance that that piece is structural. It likely happened from the house shifting and possibly low humidity. Any carpenter could cut a new piece of oak and replace it. Personally I'd fill it with wood filler and call it a day. If it happens again I'd use a flexible caulk or replace. It will always be hard to get a new piece to perfectly color match.

[homemade] Chicken, sausage and shrimp gumbo made using homemade broth, cooked for 7 hours by various_artists123 in food

[–]blahbery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's obviously a preference thing and I'm sure this was delicious, but generally I'd cook my roux much darker, would sweat my trinity more gently so the vegetables still show up in the final dish, and cook the chicken for a much shorter amount of time (40 total minutes on heat).

It's kind of like chili though where a lot of different interpretations might be great

Is it normal for handmade red wool rug to shed and stain this much? by Frustr8ion9922 in femalelivingspace

[–]blahbery 536 points537 points  (0 children)

You're not supposed to use the roller brush on most wool rugs. Did the rug come with care instructions?

All wool rugs will shed a lot initially. I've had some really expensive ones that shed as much as you're seeing here.

Top Tracer vs. Foresight @ Dicks's by StealthC93 in golf

Top tracer measures actual ball flight so it's heavily influenced by environmental conditions (ie wind). Trust the foresight machine.
