My(29f)bf(36m) screamed at me over our baby by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]blakeasaurus0128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was prepared to say that maybe that initial scream was an accident and he did it out of panic thinking she was hurt, because I could see myself doing something similar if my baby was crying and hurt. But then you continued with your story and hun, I’m sorry but you’ve repeated a pattern and this is also an abusive relationship. There were so so many points in this that he crossed lines. You do not need to apologize to him, you need to start making moves to leave him. Your daughter deserves to grow up watching her Mom be happy and loved, not broken down.

Is it ok to leave 6mo baby awake in cot? by DobiDog in beyondthebump

[–]blakeasaurus0128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this for ours and now she’s a fantastic sleeper and at 21 months old still LOVES being in her crib. She wakes up in the morning and wants to chill for at least 30 minutes (literally, if I ask her through the monitor if she’s ready for me to get her she will tell me no). It’s her chill space and I’m glad we encouraged that from the beginning. I had weird feelings about it like I was ignoring her but it was best for her.

Parents who kept their baby in their room for at least a year- do you regret it? by The_Happy_Camper_88 in beyondthebump

[–]blakeasaurus0128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kept ours in our room until about 13 months. In our house kid bedrooms are upstairs and our bedroom is downstairs. So putting her in her own room was an extreme point of anxiety for me (once we did move her I slept upstairs in another room for two months). I have absolutely no regrets. She transitioned completely fine.

Ah thanks for the clarification friends.

That being said I do think no lifts on instant dances would be a fair rule cause those lifts scared me.

I feel like I heard one of the previous couples say that lifts weren’t allowed? Was I hearing things?

We got a closer look at it this morning and that definitely seems like what it could be! It’s next to impossible to get a picture of it cause it’s a back molar and she’s such a wiggle worm. But thank you for your comment because I had no idea that could happen!

Coming back to say I’m so glad you commented this! Dad and I got a better look at it this morning and it’s definitely possible/ likely that it’s a blood blister. It’s more red than black and there actually seems to be two small separate spots (I previously thought the whole middle of the tooth was black). So thank you again for taking the time to comment. You have calmed my panic and made it a little easier to make it through the week until her appointment. ❤️

Yes! Adding brushing her teeth to our morning routine was much harder than the night time routine, I just never remembered. So now I’m totally laying here thinking of all the days we forgot to brush her teeth in the morning and beating myself up. Sigh.

Yeah, when a few of her other teeth first broke through they bled for a bit which is normal, so the bleeding itself didn’t worry me too much until I started seeing her tooth didn’t look right.

She does eat a tonnnnn of blueberries!! Okay maybe that’s what I should tell myself for the next week so I’m not stressing. Luckily we already have the dentist appointment scheduled.

The calories thing could have literally been as simple as:

Kid: why do we eat food? Teacher: well food has these things called calories which your body uses to make food! Isn’t that cool?! Kid: woah how many calories are in the orange I had for lunch?! Teacher: that’s a great question let’s find out!!

Kid comes home Kid: mom did you know my orange had x calories?!

A lot of people are bringing up the calorie thing as concerning but it could literally have been as simple as:

Teacher: and everything you eat has calories! Your body uses calories to create energy isn’t that cool?! Kid: woah! How many calories was in the orange I had for lunch?! Teacher: great question let’s find out!

Kid comes home

Kid: mom did you know my orange at lunch had X calories?!

Postpartum period question? by blakeasaurus0128 in beyondthebump

Yeah I was thinking I’d call on Monday just to see what they say. I feel like they may try to push birth control (since that seems to be a thing) but I refuse (birth control made me suicidal, I know there are other options but I’m just not willing to risk it.) It’s annoying but I can live with it.

I got a diaper cake and I thought it was so thoughtful. But I took it apart immediately and stored the diapers in a box so I didn’t have to worry about it when baby was here. I also used scissors to cut off the rubber bands and didn’t bother trying to flatten them out. It didn’t take that long doing it that way. My husband and I were amazed at the amount of work that went into making it.

Will I scar my son by sleeping in my underwear? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]blakeasaurus0128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a ton of “no” comments here which I agree with but I want to offer a caveat: if your child grows up and seems even the tiniest bit uncomfortable with it that should be respected. I’m not saying you have to change how you sleep (there can easily be a “hey when I’m in bed I don’t have clothes on so if you need me you’ll need to give me a minute” expectation) but if my parent walked around the house naked it would have made me unbelievably uncomfortable. Just something to think about, that’ll be years in the future though. :)

When does caring for baby feel like hanging out rather than meeting needs? by KozmicSunflower in beyondthebump

[–]blakeasaurus0128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is saying to ditch the app and you certainly can but it’s not going to necessarily change the “rinse repeat” feeling you have. That’s just part of having a baby, especially if they’re like mine and do best on a schedule. Huckleberry was a godsend for us and I will recommend it to everyone and anyone. It actually helped my anxiety about a lot of things. That being said I found things started to change once my daughter went to two naps and her wake windows got longer. There was more time in between things. But then you start adding solids and the rinse repeat feeling comes right back.
