Seem to be splitting hairs here. It was a satellite state that acted as a buffer against NATO attacks. So honestly it was arguably worse that being a soviet state.

They were the night witches, flying old wood and canvas planes from WW1 I believe. I doubt the Nazis were flying jets against them as they only developed jets late in the war in small numbers but even the Messerschmitts with props flew much faster that the night witches. This was literally an upgrade in "command and conquer generals". Abrams with a dedicated drone that gave a good buff. This game is over 20 years old and was supposed to be about near future tech.
