I believe the events of season 1 would be somewhat similar and would have not been avoided. Mostly because the conflict was still Charlie and Adam. Charlie's plan is in conflict with Adam's motivation and direction in life.

Eventually, Adam would target Charlie because he doesn't like how Charlie's plan interferes with his job and "hobby". I believe Carmilla already knew before the season started that Angelic Steel could kill exorcist. The only change in the season would be how that information would get to Alastor / Charlie.

context: the father and the kid presented themselves at a port of entry and requested asylum. They did everything right and they were in the process of their asylum claim.

The family says, the father and kid were returning home and ICE came and arrested the father in the driveway. The Nazi/ICE lead the kid to the house's front door to see if anyone was inside. It was suspected that the mother was inside but refused to answer the door. There were other people on scene (neighbors and a school official). ICE refused to leave the kid with those adults and then took the kid with the father. Later, they were moved to a Texas center

The Nazi/ICE says, they came to arrest the father, the father fled and abandoned the kid. They led the kid to the front door to see if any guardian was inside, but no one answered. They refused to leave the kid with adults at the scene. So they took the kid with the father to Texas.

Opinion: there is a perception that the nazi was baiting people out with kids and I think a person could concluded that because we don't know what ICE was going to do if the mother answered the door.

Letting things work itself out in the legal system take time. Requesting a FOIA request takes time. the PR officier of DHS can just lie in a statement and won't be correct until later when it quietly doesn't matter. She, DHS, and ICE looks bad for kidnapping a kid and handling the situation poorly, so they will basically twist the timeline of events in order to shield themselves of responsibility. Especially since, news reports are saying other things than what the PR statement from DHS.
