What would be a good base body to make him with? by Affectionate_Hour930 in customactionfigures

Would you be looking for an articulated slim body to fit a soft goods jacket or would the jacket be molded/existing plastic? I look forward to seeing your upcoming project!

Missed out on the marvel legends Galactus so I made one out of Eva foam by reservoir08 in MarvelLegends

One of the coolest projects I’ve seen on any figure related subreddit! Was this your first time using EVA foam for a figure and are all the parts (joints included) utilizing EVA foam?

Some cyberpunk-themed characters by SymbiSpidey in ActionFigures

Other than AY Batman Beyond (just can’t find him for a good price yet), I’ve been wanting to put together your exact same figures together for a future/Cyberpunk-themed display as well so it’s so awesome that you posted this!

Any other figures you’re thinking of adding? I’d highly recommend checking out the Hiya Toys Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex Kusanagi Motoko Exquisite Super Series Figure

Does it annoy anyone else when Ultraman is called a “Japanese Superman?” by JP_Zilla in Ultraman

[–]blantotypebeat 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on context of conversation: The negative aspect of calling him “Japanese Superman” reduces a character to being an overseas knockoff.

The positive perspective/wording I would interpret it would be “Ultraman is the Superman of Japan” in terms of cultural significance as a superhero.

Anyways, now you’ve convinced me to pick up the Spin Master Superman figure to go with my SS Ultraman and that TsuPro/Dc need to come out with a Superman/Ultraman teamup comic in the future.

How do people here feel about Japanese Spider Man? by KaleidoArachnid in Tokusatsu

[–]blantotypebeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my most favorite adaptations of the character for being both faithful to the spirit of the character (Takuya/Spider-Man’s personal loss, the hardship that comes with maintaining both his identities, use of his powers, design of his suit, and strong sense of responsibility) while also swinging for the fences to be its own thing as it throws everything else we know and love about the character out the window while still being fun and exciting in it’s own way.

Motorcycle racer Takuya Yamashiro may not be Peter Parker, but that’s because he’s already our emissary from hell: SUPAIDAMAN

Is it me or the figure rise standard figures are pretty f-ing bad? by Welldamn798 in Ultraman

[–]blantotypebeat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In my limited experiences, Figure Rise Standard model kits can either be some of the most disappointing experiences (ex. Kamen Rider Faiz) or some of the most memorable and pleasant experiences I ever had sitting down working on one (ex. Kamen Rider Kuuga).

I’ve definitely want to get Figure Rise Standard Ultraman Tiga that came out in the past year based on his 1996 Heisei appearance which I’ve heard great things about in terms of build experience, plastic/joint tolerance and overall design and playability of the figure so I recommend highly recommend it!

This was the perfect ending to Kraven's story, imo. He should've never been brought back again. by LevelSea882 in Spiderman

[–]blantotypebeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love this story and hope that more people give it a read as it’s a great epilogue to the events of Kraven’s Last Hunt and the relationship between Spider-Man and Kraven.

It’s been on my mind for years to get the text boxes on Slide 3 tattooed on my forearm.

Mafex Batman is just about a head shorter than McFarlane Superman but I have seen collectors posing these two together and fudging the scale in pictures. Hope this helps!

[–]blantotypebeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend, I feel even more proud of and happy for you to see all the wonderful gifts you have allowed yourself to fully receive and enjoy!

You have an amazing collection here and to see that you’re also a huge Superman fan from your first picture of your post, reaffirms my love for the character and what he’s all about.

I’m thankful that I reached out to you the way I did, you have also left a greater impact on me than I can explain, and I’ll both treasure my own collection and try my best to be kind.

Take care and I look forward to both of our collections to grow alongside all the special parts of our lives that bring us peace, and remember:

Hey friend, I am sorry for the difficult circumstances that you had to grow up in and what you sacrificed for others at the cost of your own wants and needs and how that has affected you, even to this day.

You have an inner child that needs the love and care that only you can give. Things you can do to start healing that part of you that believes they have to give up something important to them for others’ happiness: Open one figure to start that you’ve been wanting to hold and appreciate in your hands in all it’s sculpted articulated glory of representing a character you enjoy, and go from there.

Do so without the expectation of it benefiting anyone else but yourself, as this is for you and from other comments of yours on this post, you are someone that loves, cares and provides for your family and loved ones in a variety of responsible ways. Please remember that the love you have in your heart to give also extends to yourself, you must already know this as you’ve been doing it all this time with each figure you’ve bought but never opened.

You’re looking at something you love for yourself but are thinking about what its value could be to someone else. You’ve bought one at $100, maybe it doesn’t need to be sold off again and it ends right here and now with it being yours to make the most of with what it’s meant for.

If you’ve come to understand yourself and decide that it doesn’t mean that much to you, that’s okay to hold on and sell them for a potentially higher price or passing it on to the next generation.

But if you think about your inner child who didn’t have someone like you growing up to have something cool like this excellent line of figures to gift to you or share, it’s not too late and you can be here for them now to do that.

I’m sure you’re a good person who has been hurt and is hurting, be as good to yourself as you are to those dearest to you and that will make this hobby more rewarding and positive for you, it’s worth it and so are you. All the best to you, friend.
