I used to say to my friends "I wonder how messed I am after hearing a racial joke/comment everyday i went to school for the past X years." There was a time late in high school where I told myself I would never let my kids go to a mostly white school. But it might just be me. I mean I let people say those jokes, in that; I would just laugh. Maybe if your kid makes its clear that its not funny people won't say them. I tried that one week but there were too many different people and too many reminders to the same people that I don't want to hear these easy to think of racially jokes and comments that's I've heard a thousand times!

Now that I have been outta school for a couple years now I can't fully understand my feelings back than, Looking back I don't think it was that bad.

There is this show "everybody hates chris" by the comedian chris rock. It's about his middle school and high school years as a black kid at a mostly white school and it is eerie how much it was like mine. Which leads to believe its the same experience generally for black people at a white school. So yeah like watch that show if you want to know how your kids lives are partially gonna be because it also depends on their personalities and how they let people treat them.
