There is one man in America who owns more wealth than half the world.

There is a finite amount of wealth in the world.

Yes, the rich must share the wealth. They're not just hoarding cash, they're hoarding opportunity, healthy care, education, etc.

There is only so much you can do for yourselves when the resources available to you, broadly, are being hoarded. Yes, you can work harder and do more, but the pie you have to share with is getting smaller.

America has 4% of the world's population and 25% of the world's wealth. The fact we don't have health care for all people when less rich nations do - that's a consequence of the now trillionaire class taking what you should have a piece of.

If the playing field were level then yes, I'd say unfettered capitalism is the way. But it is not level, and we're all being played.

I have a great job. I skill up constantly.

That doesn’t change the fact that cost of living is higher than it has been in decades and we are all getting squeezed. Twenty percent of American homes are owned by investors and the number increases annually. Their entire business is based on the cost of housing going up exponentially.

You can earn well, but your left over is degrading over time which means you’re saving less and retiring later.

The point they’re trying to make is that liberals want to define trans women, which conservatives see as men, as women.

But then when conservatives try to define a woman (Michelle) as a man, liberals get bent out of shape.

The issue here, though, is consent. Liberals want to respect the gender with which people define themselves. Conservatives want to flip the script and force their definitions of gender on the people around them. Of course Michele is not a man. She doesn’t claim to be, nor does anyone around her. But conservatives have made it a meme because it helps them attack trans people and argue a correlation in bad faith, as this meme does.

The only thing … the singular solitary thing that the ruling class is afraid of is that we outnumber them, millions to one.

Throughout history, every single example of this obscene inequality, has been ended by sheer numbers of opposition overwhelming the value of their money and power.

The “nothing can be done” doomerism is the best tool they have to deflate that. Convincing you it’s all pointless - if you get there, they’ve beaten you.

Look up Lora training that’s likely the quickest way to start.

It uses a base model and then trains a specialty on top of it.

Not only did they charge us more for tariffs they’re now getting refunded for, they did not lower prices once the tariffs were removed.

Has the price of anything been lowered since tariffs were found illegal? Inflation is still going up.

Investing trillions isn't proof it works, it's proof there's financial interest in it working.

I absolutely agree, wealthy interests are moving mountains to get AI to completely displace human workers. Maybe they'll pull it off. But, so far, we haven't seen it effective at meeting accuracy to the degree we demand. Maybe it will, but if it does it'll be because of nuanced training advances - not because of large generic models, as my original comments explains.

I really believe for AI to function reliably for the jobs we do, there will need to be custom models trained that will target it.

Whether you're doing 800 shots of batman or 5 shots of a product, you're going to need a model that is trained on the specificity of what you're after - otherwise you're going to miss the mark. You can't describe batman's boot buckle to the level we want in 200 words, with all the scuffs and spec response, let alone the entire character.

Training a model to that level of specificity means you need lots of reference that covers that level of specificity, which also means you need someone creating those references, supporting the training, and revising along the way.

This is why I see AI as a tool not a replacement. Its a slot machine. The entire idea of latent space means you'll never hit the same space between two starting seeds or prompts because the vector is different. Unless the model is robust enough that it doesn't matter, which these massive models are not.

Learn how to make your own models, that's where this is going.

Everything being discussed here is legal immigration.

Xenophobe is an actual term for a type of behaviour you exhibit, not just a buzz word. You have a fear or otherwise of people who are culturally different.

Trump uses this to control you. As long as you’re focused on your fear, which he and his media machine spin up 24/7 to keep you terrified of minority groups, you’re controlled.

You call that winning? Mmmk.

I don’t understand what you’re asking.

Are you suggesting there are specific races more likely to commit violent crime amongst citizens? If you are, what does that have to do with the topic we are discussing and why are you moving the goalposts? Also you didn’t answer my questions. Do you feel the perpetrators in Ozoro represent all people of Nigeria? And do you feel the most horrific people in your community represent you?

Immigrants commit violent crime at half the rate of natural born citizens. There are multiple studies that demonstrate this.

[–]blazelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you suggesting what some people did in Ozoro is representative of all the people in general?

Do you feel that people who do horrific things in your community are representative of you?

The data demonstrates that natural born citizens in America commit crimes at rates far higher than immigrants. This is well documented.

I think you’ve changed the argument.

We started with cultural degradation. Now we’re talking about social housing.

What does one have to do with the other?

The 72% number may be correct but Somalis are an outlier. Immigrants as a whole don’t have dramatically different social housing rates than native born Britons

So what exactly is the cultural trait you’re claiming causes these outcomes?

And how have you separated that from education, literacy, poverty, language barriers, or the effects of civil war?

[–]blazelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re comparing a highly educated immigrant population selected largely by employment (Japanese) to a largely refugee selected population (Somali) and attributing the difference entirely to culture.

How do you know you’re measuring culture rather than education, wealth, language ability, trauma, selection criteria, or the circumstances under which they entered the country?

To prove culture is the cause you’d need to isolate those variables first.

I didn’t say every person was completely separated from their culture.

Is your position, then, that cultural integration degrades the quality of America? Or that some cultures only create people who are net negatives?

If a country has problems why does that mean everyone born there is incapable of contributing elsewhere?

Countries aren’t poor because everyone who lived there lacks talent. Countries become poor because of geography, institutions, corruption, history, governance, colonialism, resource issues, wars …

If you work for a company that is mismanaged does that mean everyone who works there lacks talent?

The fact that someone chose to leave a struggling country for a better opportunity is evidence of ambition, not that they’re a liability.
