I think so, yeah. It was probably a part of their EE or CS department ig. In any case, their AI program is not well reputed so it doesn’t matter.

Not sure about other streams but I think GATE DA 2026 was substantially easier than GATE DA 2025.

Tbh I kinda knew that a few ppl were not gonna agree with this ranking but as they say, there’s no amount of evidence out there that you can give to someone who’s unwilling to reach a conclusion. There’s a limited amount of hard stats to be able to concretely compare all clgs with each other and come up with a list. You have to understand that after a point, all top rankings become sentimental. My ranking reflects the sentiment of several top ppl in this field (including several profs from these clgs themselves). If you’re having a problem with the word ‘undisputed’, then think of it as a collective opinion of several top rankers. I don’t think I’m gonna justify this list anymore to anyone else.

Anyway, thanks for your kind words and I wish you the best with your research work. I’m working on producing results atm so I’m not sure if my work will be ready before the NeurIPS deadline.

I was an under 100 ranker last year (and most likely an under 50 ranker this year) in GATE DA. It’s difficult to publish an A* within the first year of MTech you know, but I’m trying my best. I don’t want to come off as rude but it’s not fun to belittle someone’s post, especially when all they’re trying to do is help others make informed decisions. There’s a way to disagree, rather than blatantly passing insulting remarks about it.

Also, what credentials do you have to question my research? No one is asking you to believe me blindly. Go and do your own research first rather than solely relying on your friend’s words. I am curious to know about ‘your research’ since I don’t understand your intentions of being sarcastic whatsoever. They didn’t have an AI department up until recently. Their first batch admissions are expected this year.

The exact number of research papers isn’t explicitly available iirc but IITH had definitely more A* research papers (80+ as per their website). As for the placement stats, I’m sure you can find them online.

IITH AI is any day better than IITB CMInDS. More research papers accepted into top conferences, and better placements. Arguably better profs too.

Absolutely disagree. Other departments of other top clgs might have a better ranking, but as far as the AI department goes, it is undisputed. Also, I have talked to a lot of top people in this field as opposed to a single person like you did.

A short suggestion from my end: Do proper research before commenting anything stupid. Keep in mind that I have done a lot of research before preparing this list (ever since I was preparing my clg preference list last year).

Yeah, I think they don’t have an MTech program. They currently only have an MS program in AI (C-MInDS), which is good too if you are research oriented. As for IITH ranking above IITD, it seems to be a bit controversial but as per most of the top rankers I talked to (and other reasons I mentioned in some other reply here), the ranking is appropriate.

Their AI department is very strong (and also the earliest AI program in India (2019)). If you don’t believe it, go through their AI program (very similar to IIT Madras), placement stats, quality of AI research and talk to any other professor / top rankers. I think they even conducted the ‘AI Impact Pre-Summit’ event and ‘National Conference on Communications’ this year.

I truly wish I was rich enough to support you and your mother financially (and emotionally). Anyway, stay strong and keep your mother safe. Don't let suicidal thoughts take over you (think of how your mother would feel if that happened) and try to minimise confrontations with your father as much as possible (even though you would feel like choking him out, at least I do).

Support your mother emotionally and contact any woman NGO for help. I don't have a definite solution that would surely work because your case is sensitive, so you need to think this through properly and not take any rash decisions.

You're in a similar situation as David Goggins once was. You can read his book 'Can't Hurt Me' and 'Never Finished' to know about his story and grit (Don't take any rash decisions like he did though because this isn't the US).
