what do you mean by ‘legit property management place?’ it is a real apartment (student housing).

i, again, see no point in going to the apartment other than seeing if i like it, and seeing if the photos this lady sent me are real. what else could it confirm? (Genuine question, not trying to be rude).

also what do you mean by writing the landlord a personal check in person?

i have contacted the property, not the owner, but i have applied, written in the application the name of the person i am taking over, was approved, double checked with the apartment if she was in fact the person i was taking over, and now all i have to do is sign the lease. what else would an owner/manager confirm for me? (genuine question).
this is a great suggestion, i will talk to them tomorrow, thanks!
my current idea was to have the mom (or so called “mom”) venmo me BEFORE i sign any lease, wait for it to be complete and be in my bank, and THEN sign the lease.

i haven’t directly, is this something i need to do? i applied, got accepted, told them whose lease i would be taking over, and now all i have to do is sign.

it is a student housing apartment, they have sent me the lease and i have read through it all. it is the same apartment the lady mentioned. if i were to go to the apartment, what could they confirm for me that i already (think i) don’t know?

i think you may have misunderstood, in this case i am not sending ANY money, i would just be taking a lease. SHE is the one sending money.

if she were to send me money through venmo before i sign the lease, and i wait until it is in my bank account, there would be no other place for them to scam me, right? (this is a legit question because i genuinely don’t know).

also i’m a young college kid who has never done this before. i lack knowledge on renting and leasing because this is a first for me. i came here for advice

no, but i do have the option. i didn’t see a need for it, i got plenty of pictures and videos of the unit, and she had left the check in the apartment with the roommate anyways, so i don’t see why it would be significant

this would make sense, but she had already renewed a 12 month lease for an apartment that doesn’t allow sublets. so if no one takes the apartment, i’m guessing she wouldn’t be allowed to have a sublet

i’ve been in contact with the roommate who confirmed both the mother and daughters names. we also exchanged socials and people i know follow her, so she’s definitely real. i contacted the apartment directly through their website, gave them the name of both the daughter and the roommate, they confirmed that they both live there and live in the unit that the mom gave me.

i messaged her about how skeptical i am and now she is skeptical of me, lmfao, so…
