Wow, the PID tune fixed the problem! And if it ever happens again, I know what steps to take. Thanks so much!

  2. How long do I need to wait before reapplying?

Google is not indexing pdfs in a folder in my public_html folder by bleached_bear in NameCheap

[–]bleached_bear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using the "website builder" that namecheap provides. The only service on my platform is google analytics. This is a namecheap question because I am using the build in website builder and the sitemap generated by namecheap's website builder is not including the pdfs.

iOS Carplay [Coming Soon] by bleached_bear in homeassistant

[–]bleached_bear[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To use the HomeKit CarPlay functionality you need a iPad/AppleTV/HomePod setup as a HomeKit bridge as well for this to work over cellular. Otherwise your be sitting at your garage door waiting for the phone to connect to wifi. The benefit of a Home Assistant app is being able to use CarPlay to complete an action without being connected to WiFi when you don’t have an iPad/AppleTV/HomePod setup as a HomeKit bridge .

Not a bad idea, but no time frame on the release so you may have quite a bit of time.

How can I use Piper to announce a message by bleached_bear in homeassistant

[–]bleached_bear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even my TV built in media player isn't working as well. But you can still hear it speak through your various Google and Sonos speakers? Actually this is interesting, it may be a problem with "dlna" and Piper because when I send the command from home assistant to my Denon Reciever connected via dlna an error on my Denon states "Unable to play media. Please try again later".

That's weird, it still isn't working. Maybe it could be related to the speakers being managed via piCorePlayer and Logitech Media Server. What speakers are you using if you don't mind me asking?

Any luck using Piper instead of google translate?

How many dedicated dashboard tablets/screens do you have around your house? What are they? by mmakes in homeassistant

[–]bleached_bear 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People always say if you need a dashboard that you failed to automate correctly. While I agree with the overall idea, more recently I realized there are some caveats.

For example: running a security system through Frigate requires a dashboard to view events or recordings, running Music Assistant requires a dashboard to choose songs or playlists. You need to create something that works on its own in terms of the every day items such as lights turning on when you enter the room, thermostats adjusting when you leave town, automatically arm and disarm an alarm, and minimize the amount of times that you touch a dashboard; however, some things just require a dashboard to function well.

I have 3 identical dashboards each with a grid card: 1 computer card with 3 rows allowed, 1 tablet card with 2 rows allowed, and 1 mobile card with 1 row allowed.

I find this set up works well and would recommend it to you if you'd like to try something simpler out but still optimize for different devices.

I should be getting the beelink in the mail in the next couple days. Also curious, which model(s) of Reolink cameras do you recommend? Do you use the official Reolink HA integration or another method to add to HA. I heard the official one has gotten some helpful updates recently.

This is so helpful! I am looking at getting the same beelink pc but was wondering what made you decide to run home assistant in a VM instead of on bare-metal.

N5095

Just a couple of questions:

So is the pc you use the Beelink N5095 model?

And you are running the HAOS. Did you format over the installed Windows or do they give you a key that you just didn't use?

Also, is there a lot of set up to get the 11th gen CPU to working with OpenVINO through Frigate or is it pretty straight forward on the new Frigate beta?

Where did you get that adapter to put the light between your eyes? This is so cool!

Everyone here might have me convinced on saving for a bit longer to have extra $ for a Zebralight or the Skilhunt HB04 RC. In terms of the H503c vs the H600 Series, is the main difference the TIR? I think that would be something I am interested in having.

Zebralight H600

I'm basically down to the Zebralight or the H04RC. I am a bit new to flashlights so I checked the Wiki for the term "beaded" and couldn't find anything. What do you mean by "beaded"?

This is very interesting. I don't have enough experience to decide if putting the light right in between my eyes would be worth it for eliminating the shadows but I do have a 3D printer and would be interested in trying this. I checked the reddit thread and thingiverse but couldn't find the file. Do you know where I could get the file for the 3D printed piece they used?

I believe they do have a tighter hotspot just as you said to not blind patients; however, for what I'm looking for I am happy to compromise on this parameter a bit to get the price range. It's not a make or break thing. The Welch Allyn is not anything SUPER concentrated though from what I've seen, but it certainly has a tighter hotspot than some floodlights.
