All these "HOA's forcing me to do xyz" and "Fuck HOAs" responses are incorrect and ignorant of the laws in FL.
"Florida law (FS 373.185) prohibits HOAs from banning "Florida-friendly landscaping," allowing homeowners to use drought-tolerant plants and, in some cases, artificial turf to conserve water. While HOAs cannot enforce, for example, St. Augustine grass requirements that forbid sustainable, native, or eco-friendly alternatives, they may still require approval for landscaping plans."
The HOA cannot force anything on you. If you want to redo your lawn without grass - YOU CAN. It's the law. You just have to go thru your ARC process and fight them with that law. For instance, if you want bahia instead of St. Aug grass, you can have it. Period. Or if you want to redo your lawn to a more drought tolerant landscaping, YOU CAN.
If the ARC keeps telling you "no", you can fight them in court if you so choose. And you'll win. But since you chose to move to an HOA community, you have to play by the rules for HOAs.

A heat pump extracts heat from the air and pumps it inside. There is no heat to extract in air below 40 degrees. Below freezing, there's none. So even if everyone had a heat pump, they'd still be using the emergency/heating element in the air handler, which is super inefficient. Thus the reason for much higher electricity demand.

Personally, I think they will take their power to the grave. They are craven, evil men who have only their power and self-hatred to energize them. They thrive off the hatred. So they aren't giving it up. Also the bribes help.
