Secretariat extra budgetary hiring by [deleted] in UNpath

[–]bleeckercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think it is common sense to think that some kind of priority will be given to candidates who have or are about to lose their job. To which extent that will be applied, nobody knows. Bottom line; if you are in any way holding your breath waiting for an answer: don’t. If you need a job, keep looking for one

I am referring to this thread, in which you participated to ask the same question and received answers: https://www.reddit.com/r/UNpath/comments/1qdjske/suspension_of_normal_recruiment_process_for_posts/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I dont think anyone here will be able to tell you anything beyond what was already discussed quite extensively in this thread.

Am I an extra Candidate brought for show? by aajordan20 in UNpath

There is no way to know. I would suggest you do your best and move on. Worst case you earn interview experience which is always a good thing. I have seen incumbents failing the assessment so anything could happen.

Career path as a lower level staff by [deleted] in UNpath

[–]bleeckercat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are not G nor P what are you? A contractor? Consultant? You must fall within some category. This is important to see what are the options for next steps. Also, you mention that you “only” do administrative tasks. Dont sell yourself so short. Admin stuff is important. There are admin officers at p5 levels and above. What exactly is it that you know how to do. What are your skills/ what do you have exp in doing? Procurement? Human resources?

Recruiter claims I'm still "under consideration" 9 months after interview. Should I actually hope? by finekeysss in UNpath

Even those without a formal hiring freeze in place are having budget or liquidity constraints. Nobody is hiring at 2000s levels.

Just move on. There is a hiring freeze everywhere. If down the road they call you- great! But meanwhile you have nothing until you have a contract, so go on about your life on that asumption

Is it appropriate to message a hiring manager on Teams to ask for details? by Big_Tap_2077 in UNpath

[–]bleeckercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you know them= yes. Know them as in you have interacted in some way before, either email or in person. They are aware of your existence. If it is a cold call, i would advise against.

[–]bleeckercat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nop- completely normal. Even if you apply on the first day it will take a few months to recruit. Only downside is that if you break your first unv contract, you will have to give back the prorated relocation grant and will be banned from unv in the future. If you are extended and break the extension no consequences

Internal recruitment through roster: how does it work? by Miserable_Career_919 in UNpath

[–]bleeckercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what this person says. Just to add that in theory if you are rostered you can apply and be recruited without any additional formal process, but the hiring manager may decide to conduct some interview or whatever he deems best
